Here is a fascinating little news item about Premier Eby of British Columbia giving a little talk about focusing the response to the tariffs. The news-item is titled: ” Canadian Premier David Eby Trump’s tariffs – “We focus on Republican states and their products, because we know who’s doing this to us. We know who’s enabling the president.” ”
I have been thinking along these lines but I hesitated to say anything because in this context it might seem like special pleading from an American reader. But if Premier Eby has been thinking along these lines his own self already, then it is perhaps not special-pleaderish of me to welcome the statement and the concept.
One wonders if Canadians will begin boycotting the Megabillionaire tech bros who are a powerful support-base-pillar for Trump for their own purposes. Are Canadians preparing to think in terms of exterminating Amazon from existence anywhere within the borders of Canada, for instance? Are Canadians thinking of trying to exterminate every trace of MuskX in all its forms from within the borders of Canada?
For that matter, are any Americans prepared to think that big? It would be a real achievement to be able to exterminate MuskX and Amazon from existence and wipe all forms of them from off the face of the earth.
(Americans-against-antiCanadianism would themselves have to ramp up this approach over the next few years at least . . . reducing their support of Republican-supporting parts of the country in order to weaken , degrade and attrit those bases of support for the Republican Party and its Trump. They supported Trump before Musk arrived and they will keep supporting Trump after Musk leaves.)
Annnddd . . . I read another reddit item noting that the Magamerican ” 51st State Conspiracy” is a bigger deeper concern than even the tariff aggression specifically.
So the boycott will probably last for years or decades to come, however regrettable that might seem.
Non-MAGA Bluemericans might continue buying whatever Canadian goods and/or services they were going to have kept buying anyway, in order to show their non-support for the Maganazi ” 51st State Anschluss Conspiracy” against Canada. Bluemericans might also think about how to focus their own internal thing-buying, vacationing, etc. towards fellow Bluemerican states and regions so as to begin weakening the power of Trump’s Maganazi Magamericans to pursue their ongoing aggression against Bluemerica and Bluemericans.
Mexicans identity and security is deeply tied to maize. A native friend has a ranch in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. I hope to god that you aren’t so stupid to judge whether or not someone … who you never met and do not know … would be a good father to a daughter based upon his use of the term “broads” as a alliterative replacement for “bros” in Bernie Bros.
I also hope to god that I wouldn’t raise a daughter who would grandstand on the alter for any cause and cackle off, without a care in the world, to leave the wannabe groom there embarrassed and humiliated in front of his friends and relatives as well as waste the time of the people who showed up that day for her wedding … though, of course, it all very well may have been scripted being that it was reality TV and all.
The NIMH did an 8 year study on the effects of stimulant drugs for those labeled with ADHD. In the acknowledgments and disclosure section there is a 2 page list of all the pharma corporations that paid the authors.
The study started by randomizing kids into 4 different treatment groups. The study last 8 years and outcomes were reported at various times.
In table 1 the different outcomes between those who were took the drugs long term and those who didn’t is presented.
Those on the drugs long term had increased rates of:
ADHD symptoms by 26-575%
Aggression by 264%
Number of arrests by 357%
Functional impairment by 351%
Depression by 619%
Anxiety by 966%
psych hospitalizations by 77%
Accidents 56% https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3063150/
The presumption from psychiatry is always that the drug group must have started out sicker. Even the conflict of interests authors of this study believed this hypothesis.
Lucky for those concerned with science and the well-being of children the study had the data to test this hypothesis.
In a follow up the authors state:
“symptom severity revealed that medication use over this follow-up interval was related to deterioration (Page 31 Evidence: ITT and moderator analyses)
“counter to our hypothesis, the severity of ADHD symptoms was not related to the use of medication… those cases most likely to use medication at the 36-month assessment had lower rather than higher (starting) ratings of ADHD symptoms (end of page 31)
“the propensity score analyses did not provide statistical support for the basic hypothesis (that those on drugs started off worse)” (page 32)
“we found no support for the hypothesis that selection biases were “carrying” this lack of long-term benefit from medication” (page 34 section 3 Qualifications:)”
Those taking the drugs in fact started off with less symptoms. Those not taking the drugs started with worse demographics, worse household income, worse health, and worse ADHD. Despite this as you can see in table 1 those on the drugs had horrendously poorer outcomes.
This study also disproved the psych spread myth that stimulant use in kids does not reduce growth. “showed growth suppression” https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18573924/

Likely new German Chancellor Merz (formerly a CEO of Blackrock) announces he will be “financializing” Germany, paired with further deindustrialization (the latter not tacitly acknowledged, but clear). When you’re in a hole, dig deeper!! You might come out in China (okay, that’s a US thing, for Germany “Antipode Finder” informed me you’d be in the Pacific Ocean, very close to New Zealand). Also crazy schemes to turn the shuttered factories into armaments plants!! The Germans remain as obsessed with Macht as 80+ years ago . . .
The Grayzone did a long session in the last 2 days, a lot of the discussion on the ongoing Syrian slaughter of ethnic minorities: Alawites, Christians, Druze, the Kurds, etc. Alex Christoforou covered this today as well, said many locals are seeking refuge in the Russian military base, being taken in. (I’d love to hear Tallifer’s take on this; probably that the dirty Russkies will eat the refugees, they are inhuman cannibals! And the former IS head-choppers are loving humanitarians who only mass murder civilians to spread Western “values,” so it’s all good!)
Also covered by Alex C. The Ukraine contingent in Kursk is being surrounded, will soon be Toast. There goes Zelensky’s (always imaginary) “bargaining chip”. The Fat Lady will sing soon enough . . .
Oh, speaking of Hopium, MoA had an excellent piece just now about a big “Atlantic” article saying Ukraine is winning the Attrition War!! Wasn’t true the previous 6,000 times they said it, but maybe # 6001 will be true?
Last week I saw former diplomat Alastair Crooke on Judge Nap, & he clearly spelled out the UK’s central role in Intell for the Ukrainians, and spreading false narratives. They aren’t a “superpower” anywhere else, but they do have one sword in the scabbard. Sadly, the other Atlantic big story countered their “Ukraine is winning!” nonsense. They just awarded the incoherent git “Sir” Keir Starmer as “the new Winston Churchill”!! Which means that Zelensky got the “Vaudeville Hook” to be pulled off center stage, first from the Trump WH, now even from the Atlantacist Masters. A real tragedy!!
Black in the Empire: “Iraqi soldiers didn’t throw babies out of incubators in Kuwait, Gaddafi didn’t give soldiers Viagra to commit rapes, Iraq didn’t have WMDs, Assad didn’t use chemical weapons on his people in Douma, Hamas didn’t behead babies, Afghanistan wasn’t a success, and Russia was provoked”
As President Krasnov disrupts all the “norms” of the well-intentioned, serious people, just remembering when Biden was “sharp as a tack” can require conscious effort.
Is “anti-semitism” now a moral imperative? Asking for a friend.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu raided a civilian Palestinian house in Tulkarm, in the occupied West Bank, which was turned into a military base after the family was forcibly expelled.
The swastika imbued generally quite positive connotations across many cultures and regions before being ‘hijacked’ quite recently. It is still a positive icon for many the world over.
I am hoping to see precisionized and accurately targeted thinking in the near-to-mid-term future, both from myself and from others.
The American public is divided between Trump-supporters, Trump-opposers, various ” Look at me!” fringe groups and a big majority of don’t-knows and don’t-cares. The apathetic, the demobilized, the checked-out, the day-to-day and hour-to-hour survivors. Members of the big Passive Majority won’t re-engage unless and until they see genuine credible rewards directly resulting from doing so. Those rewards might be ” material benefits” in the deathless words of Lambert Strether, they might be effective revenge that actually revenges ( which is why Saint Luigi of the Adjustication is becoming a folk hero), etc.
For now, it is up to engaged counter-Trump forces to figure out how to apply greater force faster enough to derail and destroy the Axis of Trump before it destroys all functional traces of the ” Administrative State”.
That would go mainly and firstly to counter-Trump forces within the US itself. Any foreigners and foreign countries which wish to try understanding the different forces within America so as to support one and undermine another in order to interfere creatively and productively into American internal affairs might ( if they so please) also
wish to study ” America” for pain points, cracks, pressure points, cleavage planes, etc.
so as to Tilt the Luck Plane in favor of their desired objectives.
The DemoPartycrats view all this as an opportunity to “flip the House” in 2026. My personal feeling is that 2026 is too late to matter and that “flipping the House” or not is an irrelevant goal and a bright shiny distraction. I would like to see several million counter-Trump persons reading and studying all the past and present posts at a blog called Global Guerillas by John Robb, about ” open source warfare”, to try understanding how systems, things, and other stuff work; and how to target and destroy selected subsystems within days, weeks or months. I would like to see several million counter-Trump pre-violent civil cold-war warfighters learn what John Robb has to say and think about ways these things could be used against the Axis of Trump.
Here is uber-establishment (‘deep state?) figure David Brooks’s glowing review of Air Force Academy and Yale university graduate John Robb’s book “Brave New War” whose sole intention seems to be instilling even more fear about ‘terrorists’ and ‘guerilla groups’ and what have you.
I suppose Robb’s experience as a ‘special ops counterterrorism officer’ combined with his time as a ‘successful software executive’ could be effectively harnessed as counteroffensive measures against the currently reigning PTB.
Perusing Robb’s site that different clue linked to doesn’t offer much for the average joe. You have to sign up (seems to be free) in order to listen to Robb’s long-winded and rather polite proclamations on resistance.
“Trump supporters, Trump opposers”– if this is the “allowed” spread of political discourse per your “Overton Window”, please count me out!! I am certainly not a “Trump supporter”, though when he does something positive– e.g., killing the Obama-HRC Trans-Pacific Partnership deal, to allow international business interests to void local American laws (health & safety laws, environmental laws, local ordinances) becuase it hurts “Bidness”, I appreciate the action, if not necessarily the Actor. Nor do I let it trouble me that he did it for a mostly dumb, reactionary reason (reflexive dislike of Obama), the outcome is still positive.
I thought Tallifer was the only commenter here living most of his/her/their Life in Flatland, a 2-dimensional space of always bad, binary choices. Corporate Dems or Corporate R’s, that’s your “choice” under “Democracy”!! When I used to teach High School, most students by 11th or 12th grade had far better critical thinking and reasoning skills than that.
Oh, as to Flatland, when I was intensively studying Qaballah and related ideas about higher dimensions, I read that classic work, from way back when, the 1880s, I was delighted at the sophistication in explaining geometry, optics, etc. analogically by extrapolating from the p.o.v. of beings in 2 dimensions, contacting a 3-d world and trying to understand it. (Note how many great philosophers worked in optics– Spinoza, Descartes (somewhat of a mixed bag, etc.)
Jewish Supremacism/Zionism/Star of David well predates the warmongering of the 20th and 21st centuries.
And it too was ‘hijacked’ and has now come to represent the bad things in life. Fascinating history:
‘Unlike the menorah, the Lion of Judah, the shofar and the lulav, the hexagram was not originally a uniquely Jewish symbol. The hexagram, being an inherently simple geometric construction, has been used in various motifs throughout human history, which were not exclusively religious. It appeared as a decorative motif in both 4th-century synagogues and Christian churches in the Galilee region.
Gershom Scholem writes that the term “seal of Solomon” was adopted by Jews from Islamic magic literature, while he could not assert with certainty whether the term “shield of David” originated in Islamic or Jewish mysticism.’
The DemoPartycrats view all this as an opportunity to “flip the House” in 2026. My personal feeling is that 2026 is too late to matter and that “flipping the House” or not is an irrelevant goal and a bright shiny distraction.
I agree.
I would like to see several million counter-Trump persons reading and studying all the past and present posts at a blog called Global Guerillas by John Robb, about ” open source warfare”, to try understanding how systems, things, and other stuff work; and how to target and destroy selected subsystems within days, weeks or months.
Several million ‘counter-Trump persons’ reading and studying all of John Robb’s past and present posts?
That in itself is a months-long project, no? Millions of people of varying abilities – some ‘slow readers’ (slow readers aren’t less intelligent – they’re just slower readers) versus those who consume information blazingly fast – and everything in between.
These will then have to be individual acts I suppose, as there is no way to effectively coordinate millions of ‘counter-Trump persons’ to act collectively to any serious degree.
As to ‘counter-Trump persons’ I believe this is much too narrow. It will preclude people who are moving away from Trump but have invested a lot of emotional, financial and other energy into what they believed was a true resistance to ‘the machine’ as they see it.
It is the same machine ‘leftists’ despise, just given a different facade for a different audience.
All of these human beings are allies.
The ‘counter-Trump persons’ narrative also has the potential to invite too many died-in-the-wool blue-no-matter-what type people – boring uncritical liberal centrists, for lack of a better descriptor – and while these folks…I sound like O-bomber…these folks are certainly potential allies it’s hard to imagine anything serious from them.
In fact, I imagine most of these people would be put off by the mere thought of doing anything outside of voting or displaying signs. They will retreat to those ‘irrelevant goal[s] and…bright shiny distraction[s].’
I don’t think they’ll follow John Robb’s site for too long. And these are the folks who voted for Getty Oil-Silicon Valley/Finance-Hollywood Kamala Harris.
Do they even know about the donor money and that it speaks louder than their signs AND, unfortunately, what they believe they’re voting for?
Billionaire BlackRock CEO: ‘Doesn’t matter’ who wins US election; Trump & Kamala Harris benefit Wall Street
Billionaire BlackRock CEO Larry Fink said it “really doesn’t matter” who wins the US presidential election, because both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris will be good for Wall Street. Academic studies show the USA is not a democracy but an oligarchy.
Some fair points made. The Axis of Musk is moving over days. Reading Robb would take months. For speedy readers it might take weeks. That could be our tragedy. There could be nothing any of us can do about anything anymore except to throw our hands in the air, chant BOHICA, lie back and think of England.
Then again, people could try this and try that. Read a little of Robb. The super-fast readers might try summarizing what they think he wrote into very condensed comments on blogs. One doesn’t need to listen to the monologues. He used to have a comments section. One fine day he told his readers that he had support from nameless rich people to create a real life Gault’s Gulch in the wilds of Chile. Most of the readers disapproved. They didn’t like his right-wing capitalanarchist libertarian vision. So he shut down the comments section. But the general principals he describes could be used by any group or affinity-group or random pack of coincidentally like-minded thinkers in any direction.
And if not Robb, there could be others to read. Someone named Jeff Vail wrote a little online-paper called A Theory Of Power. It was more about like-minded grouploads of people creating means of distributed co-survival in a hard-to-survive-in world. It even won the praise of Noam Chomsky. And if it got the Noam Chomsky Seal of Good Leftkeeping, you just know it has to be kind of left, sort of. I don’t know if it is findable anywhere on the netweb anymore. Here is an article “about” it. https://www.resilience.org/stories/2006-12-05/jeff-vails-theory-power/
Jeff Vail wrote another set of articles called A Resilient Suburbia at The Oil Drum back when that site still existed. There were four such papers. Here is a link to the first.
Hopefully that will help find the next 3. http://theoildrum.com/node/4720
Jeff Vail may help people survive the Axis of Musk. It won’t help people destroy the Axis of Musk. That problem still exists.

When you ask . . . ” Is “anti-semitism” now a moral imperative? Asking for a friend. ” . .
are you being ironic or literal? Since my mind is linear and literal, and I have an irony defficiency, I can’t tell when someone is being straight or ironic.
So, in other words, are you asking whether it is a moral imperative to begin practicing
” anti-semitism”? Or are you asking whether we should question it when we see people practicing ” anti-semitism” as a moral imperative?
If you feel the question is too dumm to even dignify with an answer, that’s okay. In which case I will be forever condemned to sit here in ignorance and darkness. And that’s okay too.
The question arises as to whether Global Guerillas is a honeypot or not. It may well be a pot full of mixed wisdom, knowledge, advice and honey. The careful bee drinks with a very long straw and absorbs the wisdom, knowledge and advice while excreting the potted honey.
I used to read it years ago, as I mentioned, and basically stopped when he cancelled his comments section. I myself should go back and re-read it again some more.
He became very bitter when he discovered that various lefty-wingy and “anonymous” types could start using some of his cookbook methods in a non-illegal way against some of the targets and belief systems he supported and cherished.
Did he not realize that anyone can read a cookbook?
It seems to me that bruce was simultaneously taking the piss out of the PTB’s disingenuous conflation of anti-semitism with anti-imperialism/anti-zionism, while implicitly calling for those latter actions/praxis.
You could be right. At least your theory of what bruce wilder was eliptically ironifying about is literally and linearly expressed enough that I can understand it.

@Eric Anderson,
I am hoping to see precisionized and accurately targeted thinking in the near-to-mid-term future, both from myself and from others.
Here is a way in to Global Guerillas. https://globalguerrillas.typepad.com/

Here is uber-establishment (‘deep state?) figure David Brooks’s glowing review of Air Force Academy and Yale university graduate John Robb’s book “Brave New War” whose sole intention seems to be instilling even more fear about ‘terrorists’ and ‘guerilla groups’ and what have you.
https://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/18/opinion/18brooks.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

I agree.

Here is a Jeff Vail’s own website linking to some papers.

Jeff Vail wrote another set of articles called A Resilient Suburbia at The Oil Drum back when that site still existed. There were four such papers. Here is a link to the first.
Hopefully that will help find the next 3.

Jeff Vail may help people survive the Axis of Musk. It won’t help people destroy the Axis of Musk. That problem still exists.

@ bruce wilder,
When you ask . .
