Russia War Situation & A Possible EU/Russia War

This is elevated from comments, by Purple Library Guy.

Picked up and posted on the front page because it’s a balanced assessment. No, Russia isn’t losing, and it’s interesting that so much Western media is suggesting it is. That said, Russia isn’t having everything its way either. – Ian

As to the current war, Russia is winning, but I’d have to say I don’t think they’re real happy with how it’s going. The damage Ukraine is doing to Russia is real, the damage they’re doing to Russian logistics in Crimea is serious and could lead to a Ukrainian offensive with some success in that area. They have had some success in counterattacks in Zaporozhia. Drones have allowed them to hang tough on the defensive for far longer than they could have without that huge technological shift on the battlefield. It is not going all Russia’s way, or how the Russian high command would prefer it to be going. They’d really prefer all that stuff wasn’t happening.

But that said, Russia has nonetheless done FAR more damage to Ukraine and the Ukrainian armed forces than Ukraine has done to them. At the moment, Ukraine and Russia are attacking each other with similar amounts of long-distance drones, but Russia has much better defenses so does not get actually hit with as many. Still more than they’d like, but not as many. But on top of that, Russia is still doing damage with bombs dropped from planes, missiles, and even some old fashioned artillery. Ukraine doesn’t have much of any of that. They do have some missiles, mostly from the Brits, but not in comparable numbers. Where Russia has lost serious logistics capability in one place on the front, Ukraine’s logistics and military capabilities and manufacturing have been seriously eroded over the whole country.

And the attrition at the military level continues at a solid pace. Some hackers claim to have gotten hold of Ukrainian casualty numbers; apparently 2.4 million Ukrainian troops dead or missing, 400,000 of which are from so far this year. I don’t think Ukraine is replacing troops at a rate of 400,000 per half-year. Already I hear some sections of the front are held almost entirely by a few drone squads. At some point men, materiel and/or logistics erode to the point where sections of the front just can’t be held. Probably if they mount a serious counterattack around Crimea, that just accelerates the time when that happens, even if the counterattack is tactically successful.

As to a possible more direct war between Europe and Russia . . . I think they would find themselves dealing with the same problem Russia has, only much worse. Drones favour the defense massively at the level of taking territory. In such a war, Russia would be on the defensive, and Europe would be getting creamed by drones as they tried to advance. The difference being that Russia is fundamentally much stronger than Ukraine, and so the drone revolution on the battlefield can drastically slow the Russian win but cannot in the end stop it. Whereas Europe is not fundamentally much stronger than Russia in military matters, and so trying to take the offensive against a Russia with, now, much more experience in drone warfare than Europe, would lead to European armies being fed into a meat-grinder. And I don’t think Europe has the stones or the unity to keep up an aggressive war of attrition for all that long once the casualties start mounting up.

This is a very good thing, because if Europe attacked Russia and Russia felt really threatened, there would be a nuclear war and we would all die. It really creeps me out that hardly anyone seems to notice this problem any more.

Agree with this essay, and will only repeat what I have said about this war from day one — that Russia can surely win the war, but it’s not clear how Russia will win peace. Imagine if the politicians signed a peace treaty tomorrow, yet Western backed neo-Nazis who did not buy into the surrender continued to launch drone attacks on Russia, or continued shelling, etc.. Does anyone trust the West to honor a peace agreement? Does anyone believe neo-Nazis will abandon their ideology? The humiliation of losing a war may stoke resentment that leads to more hatred, not less.

A lasting peace will require addressing the issues that instigated the conflict. I’m not saying Russia was wrong to go to war, because Russia was backed into a corner with no good options, but I will say that military success alone is not going to resolve the conflict. This may turn out to be one of those cultural feuds that continues for several generations, with encouragement from Western governments who have their own agenda.

of course the situation today was mostly avoidable. as i predicted, the military advantage window is getting ever more shorter by the day under the technology that started in earnest in the 1890’s.

look how fast tanks and planes on both sides were developed during WWI.

Putin should have known this by the beginning of the third year. the third year ukraine was doomed. that was the time to unleash massive force.

instead Putin dithered, looking bewildered, blubbering on about international law after one red line after another, was obliterated. asking why the west is so irrational, hoping for some sign russia will become part of the club.

    lenin knew better.

The West’s relationship with Russia has been complex and fluctuating, with periods of both cooperation and tension. While there have been efforts to engage Russia, significant historical events and differing political ideologies have often led to conflict and mistrust.
    UK Parliament University of Oxford

The relationship between Russia and the West has been marked by significant fluctuations, characterized by both cooperation and conflict. While there have been attempts to engage Russia, historical events and differing political ideologies have often led to mistrust.

Collapse of the USSR (1991): This event was expected to be a turning point, potentially leading to improved relations. However, the anticipated rapprochement did not materialize, and tensions resurfaced.

NATO Expansion: The expansion of NATO has been a contentious issue. While some Russian leaders, like Boris Yeltsin, initially accepted NATO’s enlargement, subsequent leaders, including Vladimir Putin, have expressed strong opposition, viewing it as a threat.

Conflicts in Ukraine: The West’s support for Ukraine during conflicts has further strained relations. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 marked a significant escalation, leading to widespread condemnation from Western nations.

Negative Sentiment: Public opinion in Russia has shown a growing resentment towards the West, with a significant majority expressing negative views of the United States and the European Union. For instance, in early 2015, 81% of Russians viewed the U.S. negatively.

Influence of Propaganda: Anti-Western propaganda has intensified, particularly following the crisis in Ukraine, contributing to a broader sense of animosity.

While there have been moments of potential cooperation, the West’s relationship with Russia has often been fraught with challenges. Historical grievances, ideological differences, and recent conflicts have shaped a complex dynamic that continues to evolve.

The West has attempted to invade Russia multiple times throughout history, with notable invasions by Napoleon and Hitler both resulting in significant failures due to harsh winter conditions and effective Russian resistance. These historical attempts have contributed to ongoing tensions between Russia and Western nations.
The Archive History is Now Magazine

The West has made several notable attempts to invade and conquer Russia throughout history. These invasions have often ended in failure, primarily due to the harsh winter conditions and strong resistance from the Russian people.
    Major Invasions
    Year Invader Outcome
1812 Napoleon Bonaparte Failed; harsh winter and guerrilla tactics led to massive losses.
1941 Nazi Germany Failed; Operation Barbarossa faced severe logistical issues and winter conditions.

Harsh Winter Conditions: The Russian winter is notorious for its severity, which has historically thwarted invading armies. Both Napoleon and Hitler underestimated the impact of the cold on their troops.

Effective Resistance: The Russian military and civilian population employed effective guerrilla tactics and scorched-earth strategies, making it difficult for invaders to maintain supply lines and morale.

Geographical Challenges: Russia’s vast size and varied terrain complicate military logistics, making it challenging for invaders to sustain a prolonged campaign.

These historical invasions have shaped Russia’s national identity and contributed to ongoing tensions with Western nations. The failures of past attempts to conquer Russia serve as a reminder of the resilience of its people and the challenges posed by its environment.

Lenin believed that the West had historically attempted to invade and conquer Russia, which influenced his revolutionary ideology and policies. He viewed these invasions as a significant factor in shaping Russia’s political landscape and the need for a strong, unified socialist state.

    Lenin’s Perspective on Western Invasions

Lenin recognized that the West had a long history of attempting to invade and conquer Russia. This historical perspective significantly influenced his revolutionary ideology and policies. He believed that these invasions were not just military actions but part of a broader pattern of Western aggression against Russia.

    Impact on Revolutionary Ideology

Need for Unity: Lenin argued that the historical invasions underscored the necessity for a strong, unified socialist state in Russia. He believed that only through socialism could Russia defend itself against external threats.

Political Landscape: The invasions shaped the political landscape of Russia, leading to a sense of urgency for revolutionary change. Lenin viewed the establishment of a socialist government as essential for national security and sovereignty.

Lenin’s awareness of Western attempts to conquer Russia played a crucial role in his approach to governance and revolution. He sought to create a resilient state capable of resisting foreign domination through the principles of Marxism and Leninism.

and of course, lenin was right. even after the one two punch of russias bill clinton/obama moment, gorbechev and yeltsin, russia’s government has managed to hold onto about 80% of its economy.

that 80%, has way way out innovated and produced the west which is run by towering intellectual mental midgets.

the midgets know this, and are hell bent to reverse the mess they made for all of this, by taking iran, russia, china and north korea out.

iran has proven there is a window, but they better know how short it is. putin is simply bewildered, and Xi is smug about it, he thinks he can beat them at the economic game.

but behind every trade, or free trade scheme, there is the point of a gun in the end.

  3. One word. Warmonger. If you support Putin’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine, you are a warmonger. Embrace it. Wear that characterization proudly rather than denying it.

Using the twisted logic applied to determine that Russia is winning the illegal war against Ukraine, perhaps Iran will be kind enough to attack key strategic infrastructure in D.C. and elsewhere deep in the heart of America so Trump can use that to claim he is winning America’s and Israel’s illegal war of aggression against Iran because nothing says you’re winning better than having your refineries and weapons manufacturing plants blown up.

Fyi, if anyone needs a job, Russia is accepting all applicants willing to work. Putin has bragged Russia’s unemployment rate is less than zero. The economy is booming. Missile factories are going up left and right. Russia is tantamount to a gas station with nukes but out of gas.

  4. Feral Finster

Whether Russia has done more damage to Ukraine is irrelevant, since nobody in Washington, nobody in Brussels, nobody in Kiev cares about Ukraine or Ukrainians, except to the extent they can supply warm live bodies.

Yes, Ian, your read is solid as usual, here’s one thing though, The Donald and his Retinue of Freaks, Morons and Loser Sycophants have too many balls in the air, too many spinning plates as well. George Galloway covered yesterday that something I predicted happened, US MIC rounded up all the Iraqi leadership and jailed them, Country now under US Control for the moment. I don’t think it will last, I’d anticipate some Asymmetric Warfare to drive US out, but my prediction was that US would want 1-3 of their 13 bases back, a tough hill to climb but Iraq was the weakest link, and closest geographically to Iran.

Great comment by Dan K, and please see my response to you on the Open Thread. No my ALL CAPS wasn’t because I’m “on speed”, a hyperbolic assumption, it’s because I was parodying the hysteria of the Gin-Grinch crowd, how DARE some of us have hyphenated identities, we must all be “100% Pure American”, gag!! And my comments were directed more at your Racist Friend (see the They Might Be Giants song) than at you. I steer clear of White Nationalists personally, but your choices are yours.

spud, brilliant as usual; thank you.

I was going to just ignore the Troll’s usual bizarre hate-spew, and (as Ian notes) his desire for Nuclear Annihilation if Russia goes down too. Despite the fact he says he has children!! The Whole Planet must pay for the fact that Russia exists, eh? And the animals too; a sick puppy.

    2 further comments by me:

    1. The Troll’s belief that the big “fires” filmed for NAFO substantially damage anything is idiotic. In fact, Mercouris on the Duran shared that these “enormous fires” are just Smoke Bombs, they’re dropping large plastic baggies filled with oil, fryer grease or other combustibles, it creates huge black clouds for the Narrative to film. Damage minimal, even per NPR. Heard a snatch while driving to meet with friends yesterday, “Massive” Hit, but 1 person killed. Big whoop!? No, small premature orgasm.

    2. I dithered for awhile (Libra Sun, always try to be careful and judicious), but now I am firmly in the Camp that Putin is a pathetic Coward, he needs to be kicked to the curb by his colleagues. John Helmer convinced me first, even the Duran a day or two back, they were like Putin is pathetic– mainly they were talking about fighting back with counter-Narratives to the West, doesn’t know basic PR talking points, which for fuck’s sake the Red Commie Regime of times past knew to a T. But they also seem to have realized Alexander’s old talking point, “Putin is the only one preventing WW III” is now irrelevant. The Euro-slugs so insane they share LAS’ lunatic thesis, “Blow up the whole World!! This Planet doesn’t deserve to exist if Russia is (the Biggest) part of it.”

Planet of the Apes coming soon? I hope not; we’ll see.

  7. When Putin overthrew Ukraine’s Democratically elected government in 2014 he was a warmonger.
When Putin violated the Minks 1 and 2 peace treaties he was a warmonger.
When Putin was killing tens of thousands of civilians in Ukraine from 2014-2022 he was a warmonger.
When Putin sabotaged the Istanbul peace talks he was a warmonger.
In the last 25 years when Putin was bombing/invading Serbia, Bosnia, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Palestine, Pakistan Venezuela, Cuba, Ecuador, Nigeria, Niger, Mali, etc he was a warmonger.

When Putin was overthrowing the democratically elected governments of Boliva, Venezuela, Peru, Honduras, Hati etc he was a warmonger.

It’s no wonder Ukraine decided to go to war when they were next to a military alliance like that. Especially since that alliance was publicly saying how it was going to destroy Ukraine so it could be raped and pillaged.

It’s obvious who the baddies are.

  8. cc

Perhaps one minor quibble about the post (that was a comment) is that it primarily presents the conflict as Ukraine vs Russia – ex. “The damage Ukraine is doing to Russia is real”, “Ukraine and Russia are attacking each other” – when the conflict is really the combined might of all of the West against Russia with Ukraine used as the tool, weapon, battering ram, cannon fodder, and the battlefield. Ukraine is used as both the hammer and the anvil against which the West is trying to hurt Russia (and fellow Slavs Ukraine, too, in the process), just as Afghanistan was brutally used by the West in late 70’s and in the eighties as a tool and weapon against the USSR.

The post later alludes to Europe as backing Ukraine, but there’s zero mention of the US, Canada, NATO, Japan, etc. The collective West has poured well over half a trillion dollars into Ukraine since 2022, and who knows how many more hundreds of billions in the eight years between the 2014 West-sponsored coup and 2022, and billions leading up to 2014 to create the conditions for the West-sponsored coup. It’s a war of the collective West against Russia that never would have happened otherwise. Ukraine is only the location of the West’s war of aggression on Russia’s doorstep.

Zbigniew Brzezinski, the former U.S. National Security Advisor, had prominently discussed Ukraine’s geopolitical importance way back in his 1997 book, “The Grand Chessboard”. He identified Ukraine as “the critical state” for keeping Russia and Eurasia subjugated to US hegemony.

This from MoA a few days ago makes clear that we in the West are making use of Ukrainians as our bloody tools.

“The Ukrainian army is in its ever worst position. Moral is terrible, losses are high and the recruitment methods are getting more and more brutal.”

“A recent investigation by the Ukrainian outlet Babel reveals murder and torture in the recruit training camps”

“The newly recruited soldiers, snatched from the streets, are living in guarded tents. Going to the toilet is only allowed in groups and under the eyes of an armed soldier. Grounds around the training camp are mined. Torture is routine. People who try to flee will be shot and/or get brutalized to death.”

    https://www.moonofalabama.org/2026/06/ukraine-isnt-winning.html

We, the West, are the aggressors, just as we, the West, are the ones funding and arming the genocide by Israel, all to maintain Western hegemony over Eurasia and hence the world.

Very nice summary here by Simplicius the Thinker, about the layers and layers of idiotic Narrative bullshit Ukraine is crapping out.

    https://simplicius76.substack.com/p/mystery-valdai-meeting-between-putin

I didn’t watch the 18 second clip, why bother? If Russian troops are going against Putin it is because the Hard-Liners are booting his ass out, NOT because the entire Russian People and Leadership have suddenly decided that Stephen Bandera is really cool, they feel ashamed that their Grandfathers defeated Nazism and want to convert.

In that case the Germans, Black Rock Merz would embrace them and stop all the empty threats and Psyops would stop. As Simplicius notes, the CIA is a poor, en retard parody of what it used to be, c. Nov. 22, 1963.

    Putin this Putin that.
Putin it in the trash can because the dude’s an agent beholden to diverse oligarchal gods. The way it plays.
There’s no good and no bad but a whole lot of amorphous gray.
    Fuck em all, you know?

When Russia amassed troops and material along the Ukraine border in January 22, I told the apprehensive in my vicinity. don’t worry, they’re not going to do anything stupid. And I truly believed that despite the year’s long provocations and the Donbass debacle that Russia would finesse it in another way beyond the military approach.

Well, okay, I’ve tracked it across the net— the opinions and speculations and the statistics and the lies and deception, and no matter how clever, insightful and tailored to the audience it all falls short.

Go ask an informed working class family in rural Russia their view.
Go to the rural wheat growing regions of Ukraine, and put your finger on the pulse.
Interview grieving mothers and fathers whose children died ugly wartime deaths.

Unlikely anyone here has set their sneakers on that ground.
    So what do we know?
It’s all opinion, informed or not, and just like an asshole we all have one.

And oh yeah, that nuclear puke could well be spilling into your neighborhood someday soon.

Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

  11. rkka

L&S dislikes the fact that the war situation is developing not necessarily to Ukraine’s advantage. That doesn’t change its factuality.,

And yes, Russian stuff is getting blown up too, there’s no doubt, war is like that, just like a lot of Iranian stuff has gotten blown up since February. Just because Russia & Iran have had a lot of stuff blown up doesn’t mean you’re not winning..

But you know, such is Russia’s refinery capacity that Russia consumes about 3.5m barrels/day, while exporting 2m barrels/day worth of refined oil products. That excess refinery capacity gives Russia resilience, so they can adapt to the changing fortunes of war.

  12. Purple Library Guy

    @cc — not gonna argue.

There’s an interesting tactical sidelight on how the war is going right now and how it may shift in the immediate future. I only have this from one source, not going to claim it’s totally reliable. But anyway–so, for some time Ukraine has been fairly successful with long range drones, hitting refineries, sometimes getting a piece of Moscow, and creating SERIOUS logistical problems in Crimea. This is one reason for the Russian northern offensive intended to create a buffer zone, which has seen distinctly limited success. Now, whether the Russians always knew this was the case or just learned it recently, it has become clear that these drones are mostly launched from trucks, which they would drive to pretty near the border so as to minimize the time available for Russian defences to shoot the drones down. It seems this is one of the reasons they have been quite successful lately. Launch from trucks has of course that advantage that trucks are mobile, you don’t know where the launch is coming from, you don’t know which truck has drones in it.

So, recently the Russians decided to just shoot all the trucks and all the gas stations. If a whole area is no-go for trucks PERIOD, it doesn’t matter which ones have drones in them. They started with the north, and their success seems to have been such that the Ukrainians have been forced to do their drone launching from further south, giving the defences more time, with the result that far fewer have been getting through in the last week or so. They seem now to be moving on to the regions targeting Crimea, which may begin to give them a handle on salvaging the Crimean situation. They’ve also been creaming all the gas stations along the most major highway supplying the sort of mid-area of the front where Russia has been taking a couple of major cities.

If this tactic continues to bear fruit, the amount of damage Ukraine can do with its long distance drones may shrink considerably and that in turn may doom both its expected attempt at a big counterattack towards Crimea and its attempts to generally increase the costs of the war for Russia.

  13. Carborundum

    Two thoughts:

    1) I don’t think drones (as currently practiced) are as favourable to the defence as this conflict would lead us to believe. Much of current practice is predicated on being able to sit in nice prepared positions and not have to reposition every couple of hours, like one would have to if one was fighting on a less static battlefield.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the tier 1 powers deploy their drones, which will be more along the lines of loitering micro-munitions, deployed from motherships (these systems are already being tested at Groom Lake). We may well find configurations that significantly favour the offence.

The really key thing to keep in mind when generalizing this conflict forward is how thinly spread both sides’ forces are and how slow the pace of advance is. Eighteen months ago, the Ukrainians were holding three to four times as much frontage as doctrine says they should *with largely static lines*; everything I see indicates that forces are even more thinly distributed now.

    2) I’m wondering whether we’ve seen some sort of phase shift in the conflict – this is the sort of thing that we tend to miss when things have been trucking along in the same vein for a long period of time – we get complacent and don’t take on new data as easily as we should. The talk of fuel rationing is interesting; not completely new, but this seems more acute than last year.

  14. Purple Library Guy

The basic thing is that with the modern drone schtick, you can kill anything that isn’t hiding. In order to advance, whether with armoured vehicles or just infantry, you need to leave your hiding spot and move. Then, the drones kill you and the advance fails. And the thing is, the problem also applies to drone wrangling squads themselves, not to mention whoever is keeping them in supply–bringing fuel, more drones etc.; as soon as they get in a truck or whatever and try to move the squad’s position forward to project power further, they can be killed by the enemy’s drones. Basically, the battlefield becomes static because moving things die.

I suspect that these “motherships” will also be vulnerable to getting taken out by enemy drones if they don’t get hidden and stay that way, leaving the battlefield static again.

  15. Oakchair, you littered the floor with red herrings, one after another. The point here is not that the West isn’t without sin but that Russia is also not without sin and the sins must never be forgiven let alone supported and enabled in real time as they are being committed. There are no good guys in this equation. They are all the baddies, but within that context, at least in regard to Ukraine and Russia, who invaded who? Who is occupying who? Russia is clearly in the wrong here every bit as much as the West was in the wrong in regard to every military adventure since WWII including the latest illegal war of aggression against Iran. I find Iran’s leadership vile and loathsome every bit as much as I find Israel’s leadership vile and loathsome and America’s leadership vile and loathsome and Russia’s leadership vile and loathsome, but I don’t condone an illegal war of aggression despite my condemnation of that leadership.

  16. And yes, Russian stuff is getting blown up too, there’s no doubt, war is like that, just like a lot of Iranian stuff has gotten blown up since February. Just because Russia & Iran have had a lot of stuff blown up doesn’t mean you’re not winning.

Hey guy, you have the wrong comparison. Iran is likened to Ukraine, not to Russia, despite Russia using Iran as a foil whilst it instructs Krasnov on how to proceed against Iran. Hey Iran, have you ever considered there is more than one Great Satan? That perhaps Russia, your supposed friend, is the Great Satan also because why would the Great Satan have just one face? I mean, look at how being allied with Russia helped Assad and Syria. Is this your future? So long as Russia is your ally, it may well be and it’s just a matter of time.

Yes, Iran is more akin to Ukraine in this regard. Iran is defending itself against an enemy or enemies who have engaged in illegal aggressive war against it just as Ukraine is defending itself against the same, so your last sentence could just as easily, maybe even more appropriately, be phrased as follows.

Just because Ukraine & Iran have had a lot of stuff blown up doesn’t mean they’re not winning.

  17. Carborundum

We think that drones lock everything down because that’s what the video shows, but that’s a fairly curated view of things – reality is more varied. Forces regularly operate under observation with far heavier direct and indirect fires that these drone swarms are supporting, such as when breaching field fortifications, deliberate attack, etc. There are definitely some particular challenges with drones (e.g., no radar direction of counter-battery fires), but you’re not in completely foreign territory like people believe.

Similarly, I don’t think the motherships are particularly vulnerable. Though mothership seems to be the term of art, I think it’s a bit of a misnomer – think of them more as submunition dispensers designed to get drone kill vehicles to the line of conflict from the rear. They’re quite a bit faster than the classic FPV drones we see fielded, as well as being low observable. I have seen discussion of mixed swarms of large and small drones, where the situation might be different for the larger drones, but it’s not clear to me how those swarms are designed to function.

  18. Feral Finster

I would not listen to anything Mercouris, MoA, Simplicus or most other alt-media have to say.

Their penchant for wishful thinking and cognitive dissonance are something else. Their track record of past predictions shows this.

  19. Tallifer

    1. Russia is hardly advancing at all anywhere anymore. Infiltrators in the grey zone waving a flag at most.
    2. Russia invaded Ukraine; Europe did not invade Russia, but is helping Ukraine defend itself, because the Baltic States etc rightly fear Russia (also considering Transnistria, Ossetia, Syria and Chechnya).
    3. Russia invade because Ukrainians through Maidan etc demonstrated that they wanted a country free from corruption, vassalage and dictatorship. They want to be part of the European Union and NATO.
    4. NATO’s expansion was due to free countries freely applying to join, not due to some imperialistic project.
    5. There were indeed Ukrainian fascists in WWII. There are probably some still, because there are some in every single country. But their society as a whole looks toward democracy, human rights and international law.
    6. There is indeed still corruption in Ukraine, but the many recent court cases and investigations show that Ukrainians as a whole want to get rid of it and conform to the rule of law as exemplified by the EU.
    7. The Ukrainian army does suffer from manpower shortages, but its solution is to conserve its manpower through the use of all manner of drones to defend, strike, supply, interdict and reconnoiter.

We shall see which narrative and analysis the coming months will prove.

(I suggest reading Timothy Snyder and Phillips O’Brian for scholarly analysis using well-documented historical and contemporary investigative references.)

Great comments from all but the one predictable, deranged source we all know to discount.

Oakchair, nicely done!! Yes, we all know who the Baddies are. But as Justin Trudeau (now out of office, only known for banging Katie Perry post-Russell Brand marriage, Russell #MeTooed though he was Diddy’s bitch, still not in jail for decades-old sex harassment) whined after the Canadian Parliament gave not one but two Standing Ovations to the then-98 year old Yaroslav Hunka for his Waffen SS Unit’s (formed by no less than Heinrich Himmler himself) 1943-45 slaughter after rape and torture of at least 4,000 Ukrainian and Polish Jews (mainly, not exclusively; the disabled, gays etc. also slaughtered per Nazi-Banderist ideology), li’l Justin whined, Nobody should be talking about the applause, that furthers “Russian Propaganda”!!

Hunka in a memoir for his local University in Canada called ’42-45 “the best years of my life.” That University refused to take that bio after the bad press. LAS should look into it, he’d certainly get off on the violence and racism.

All the Holocaust Deniers or promoters, LAS mainly, see here– https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yaroslav_Hunka_scandal

And my AI informed me that Hunka’s Auto-bio has only been “discussed” by those who have seen it, nobody will publish it for now. (I’d bet however that there are Samizdat versions circulating among the Neo-Nazi True Believers. I’m sure LAS has friends here, he may want to ask around.)

“14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (1st Galician),” pretty heavy shit there; even better he rose to the rank of “Rottenfuhrer” (can’t make this shit up, sad my keyboard won’t do umlauts.) The University of Alberta had been planning to name part of the Library after him when the book was published, but best laid plans, etc.

“In his memoir, Hunka referred to the Wehrmacht as “mystical German knights who give ‘bullets’ to the hated cowards”, referring to fleeing Polish soldiers and civilians.[13][14].” Careful if even reading this, LAS, I don’t want you to soil your shorts with a massive Orgasm.

“In 1985, the government of Canada formed the Deschênes Commission to investigate claims that Canada had become a haven for Nazi war criminals.[28].” A nice fig-leaf, only one person ever prosecuted. Oh, but Nazi-Symps in Canada despite Canada having been an Ally and lost men in Europe, found that ” “Charges of war crimes against members of the Galicia Division have never been substantiated.”[28]”. Memory-hole that per Orwell, as I said, Holocaust Deniers. I’m definitely with the Simon Wiesenthal Center on this one, Canadian Holocaust denial disgraceful.

Enough beating of that dead, stinking rotten horse, the #2 of the Canadian Government Chyrstia Freeland, a 3rd Generation N@zi, like Ursula Von der Leyen (husband’s name, shows their Noble Status) of course famously created in Canada the “Victims of Communism” monument, like the US’s famous Vietnam fallen memorial of Maya Lin, has inscriptions of the fallen martyrs’ names, many Waffen S.S. names. A great summer tourist site for Lie and Suborn, family and friends.

What mago said, what cc said, what rkka said– latter notes that the “Winning Bigly” Drone tactic recently is futile. Suppose some enemy of the Brits had invaded Newcastle and tried to burn all the charcoal briquettes, incinerate the local population. A Sisyphean Task, will never work.

Purple Library Guy correct, has done the research, Crimea is being hit causing real deprivation, harm, in most other areas it’s scattershot bullshit, minimal damage. The Crimeans will tough it out, they are majority Russian-speaking, Russian Orthodox, don’t want to be N@zi-occupied, have their Churches destroyed, children banned from speaking Russian or have 3rd Reich-inspired School Curricula, as seen in plucky “democratic” little Ukraine.

Carborundum very strong on Military knowledge, yes it is a “phase shift,” though they’re losing badly on the ground, constant Hail Mary distractions to look like they’re Large and In Charge. It works on the stupidest in the West, viz “facts on the ground,” mostly meaningless. Whomever (likely cc) noted that the Collective West poured Half a Trillion $ into Ukraine between Cookies Nudelman’s 2014 Coup (when Crimea fell completely into their Ally, Russia’s hands), the amount channeled in previously hard to say.

I haven’t looked at MoA in at least 5 days, will do so soon. 1 brilliant Hail Mary plan I saw this morning is to create a provocation so that Russia will accidentally kill a Garden Member, the Jungle will be punished. (Geographically no jungle in Russia, but hey, Karl Rove narrative rules, “We create our own reality.”) I’m sure there are dozens more such Crackpot Rube Goldberg plans circulating. This failed the first time Zelensky tried it, 2023, shot an errant missile NW into Poland, hit a farm where 2 men working around midnight, one dead, one badly injured. Zelensky demanded NATO Article 5 for “Collective Defense” and full-on WW III. Even Joe Biden’s people wouldn’t go there.

A Cascade is coming, by late Summer or Early Fall. But LAS for now will get what he wants, tens or hundreds of 1,000s more dead Ukrainians, Woohoo!! Slava Ukraina!! To the last Ukrainian!!
See Mercouris here with Glen Diesen if more data needed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3o4muQ-mexI

SMO goals nearly done, the 5 Regions over 90% captured, Fat Lady to sing, late this year or early next. Unless Finland decides to ignite a Nuclear War and total human and animal annihilation. Personally, I don’t pray. Out of my control, best I can do is fingers crossed.

The strategic possibilities and constraints imposed by the organizing architecture of tactical packages is the nearly impenetrable core of military science. Sixty years ago, in youthful enthusiasm for the great enterprise of war, drained of the stench of carnage by easy, confident historical narrative, I would attempt in my childish self-confidence to understand the technical “why” of the Western Front in the Great War. “It is complicated” barely scratches the surface. And, there is no surface per se, just an unfathomable depth of human social organized violence composed of psychopathy, courage, engineering, deception, logistics, routines, skills, communication, bureaucracy, chaos, leadership, solidarity, unimaginable suffering and endurance, and, of course, mechanical contrivances and gadjets.

Human psychology is driven and distorted by the need to compress the complex into the kind of tiny capsules that can pass thru the pea-sized passages of human Input/Output. The fabric of the space-time continuum reduced to e=Mc2.

Drone warfare has become for us a puzzle compressing the manifold of warfare in the New Age. If we can unpack it correctly, we can understand the whole new shape of things. I have tried to do it myself, turning over in my imagination what I think I see in FPV. The coincidence of Virtual Reality and actual warfare has been with us since the bombing of Serbia. Was it part of the first Iraq War? I forget. Certainly, Shock and Awe in the Second.

It is tempting, as I indicated, to the mystery of the immobility of the Western Front in WWI, but that original puzzle is a nearly unfathomable, complex of issues peculiar to a brief moment in the onrushing evolution of many, many technologies, not just the machine gun or artillery guns or the telephone (remarkably important at the time) or the armored, tracked tank. Not least of those limiting technologies in the First World War was the incompetence of military and political leadership. Doctrines were obsolete because of inexperience with the novel technologies but whole social classes from which command was drawn were obsolete and reforms had advanced unevenly before the War. I sense that developments of this latter nature are neglected in the discourse. Russia, it appears to me, has undergone a whole-society revolution in its relation to support for the military and Russian geopolitical ambition. Before 2022, the Russian military was a ragtag conglomeration of an underfunded, small professional corps, militias, barely legal private military companies, a resentful, revolving chorus of conscripts, and a MIC barely holding together a narrow selection of wonder-weapon projects.

The war of attrition strategy is wearing on Russian society and Ukrainian society and on the cohesion of European Union / NATO politics, as much as it is on industrial or financial capacity. Drones don’t have much to do with that, except as a MacGuffin wielded in the War of Narratives.

I presume that the cautious, finely calculating Putin is weighing his options for a flanking maneuver in the War of Narratives, where NATO and the EU are quite aggressively pirating “shadow” tankers and lawyers are circling frozen Russian bank deposits, and domestic political dissent from anti-Russia policies is under severe pressure. I don’t know if an option for a “flanking maneuver” would include a dramatic, sweeping advance on the ground in Ukraine or a bombing campaign to demonstrate the debility of the Zelensky regime. If it is not an option — as in not feasible, nevermind whether it is strategically advisable on other grounds — to my mind it calls into question the whole premise that Russia by sheer weight will inevitably “win” this war.

There has been an argument out there that posits that a static, meat grinder front serves Russia’s grand strategic purpose and considerable evidence that over the last year or 18 months at least, that the front has ground down a lot more Ukrainian lives and equipment than Russian. That certainly wasn’t true early on, but again, I think Russian competence and capability has advanced considerably across the whole society as well as the whole military in four years. That is not a process likely to continue if it cannot be demonstrated as strategically decisive in the contest. Should I believe Ukraine has been made stronger, too, by four years of war? A center of war innovation and production for all Europe?

  22. Nat Wilson Turner

Finster is right about this: “Whether Russia has done more damage to Ukraine is irrelevant, since nobody in Washington, nobody in Brussels, nobody in Kiev cares about Ukraine or Ukrainians, except to the extent they can supply warm live bodies.”

He chooses to celebrate western cynicism and evil as a smart play, whereas others do not.

In the end cheap cynicism leads nowhere which is why it’s called nihilism.

And his dismissal of the prediction track record of the alt media is pretty hilarious when the MSM is so much worse.

Everyone is wrong about all kinds of things when it comes to predicting the future. But certainly Col. Wilkerson or Col. MacGregor are more sane and prescient than Jack Kean or Keith Kellog.

  23. Mark Level

Glad to see Tallifer here again; LAS needs a best bud. Somebody else to Wishcast that the 3rd Reich had won, will win, Deutscheland will have Europe’s biggest Army.

They’re not killing Jews anymore, but yes kill all those protesting a Genocide, jail them if mass murder doesn’t poll well; Trump just LOST bigly with SCotUS in eliminating Birth Right/ 14th Amendment Citizenship, as Nelson would laugh, “Ha-haaa!” Oh, but to be fair to the actual German populace, over 70% not pro-Israel and Apartheid. Doesn’t matter though, Tallifer and Lie Suborn’s Betters still believe the Garden Good White People (GWP a Nancy Reagan 1980s #3 hit meme) will exterminate the “Asiatic” Russians, the evil Red Chinee, etc.

bruce wilder might be bummed that Alito (!! Well, his grandparents were Italian Immigrants) and even Clarence Thomas, his ancestors were Slaves, defended & support Birth Right Citizenship. bruce, where I live in New Mexico 60% of the populace, me included, speak Spanish every day. You can’t kill or deport us, we’re the majority. Trump Admin didn’t put ICE into Texas as it’s (for now) Deep Red, despite the fact that 1/3 of the populace don’t have papers. Hey, it keeps wages even for people with Papers low!!

Feel like if I ever met bruce face to face I’d have to have an “I Am A Man” sign at ready, like the folks in Birmingham displayed 1957. Hispanics exist, you can’t mentally remove us all from meatspace. Shit on our identity all you wish, we’ve been here at least 106 years longer than the superior Anglo-Saxons. Wilder an English and more important German family name, I get that the white superiority is baked in.

Chinese born here are citizens, Suck It, haters!! Steve Innskeep of NPR noted, “Citizenship” for foreigners “just a plane flight away,” people won’t have to buy the Trump-desired $1 million or $5 million “Golden Ticket”, no need for Roald Dahl to spin in his grave.
And to Finster, I believe Mercouris when he’s right, I disbelieve him the rare times he’s wrong. Sad we can’t bet on the date of Ukraine’s imminent defeat (might not occur in one day, may take weeks, months.) Wars end eventually, this one will too.

To LAS, Tallifer and the other White Nationalists, in your dreams, morons!!

  24. Mark Level

Oh, and to Nat Wilson Turner, thank you on Finster’s Nihilism.

As I’ve previously said, I’m with Finster 75% of the time when he’s Cynical, that is more than warranted; I set a healthy boundary at Nihilism, just as I do at Hindutava Bullshit (even though I believe Reincarnation likely true, in a Perfect Universe we’d get both Reincarnation and Nietzsche’s Eternal Recurrence, but I’m not Dr. Pangloss, I’d like that to be the case, cannot know until my flesh dies and I cross into the next Stage).

25% of the time Finster is pure Nihilist, he cheers on Genocide and Death. At least LAS is more consistent, 100%; oh, and to Tallifer, as the quote goes, Every word a lie, even “and” and “the.” I’ll only quote one line as representative: “6. There is indeed still corruption in Ukraine, but the many recent court cases and investigations show that Ukrainians as a whole want to get rid of it and conform to the rule of law as exemplified by the EU.”
ROTFLMAO– See here, Zelensky best buddy back to TV days Mindich flees to Israel with $100 million embezzled from state companies (amount a bit too neat, obviously an estimate). https://www.defenddemocracy.press/zelensky-associate-at-crux-of-ukrainian-corruption-case-said-to-have-fled-to-israel/

Dose this bother you a little? $100 million stolen that could’ve gone, per you and Ms. Lindsey Graham, to “killing Russians,” now unavailable. There was corruption pre-Maidan, it is far worse and more open, congratulations.

Oh, yeah, Ukraine believes in human rights, when American Citizen Gonzalo Lira was jailed, had all his assets stolen without trial, tortured and sexually abused preceding Death by Medical Neglect– you’d call that Democratic I suppose? US State Department didn’t lift a finger to help him (Biden era), ask his family about the issue. You won’t though.

I side with “Defend Democracy” here, seems sincere, just as I stood with the Simon Wiesenthal Fund earlier in the thread. LAS says “The Enemy of my Enemy is My Friend” is always wrong. Idiot, it needs to be applied on a case-by-case basis. Keep on Wishcasting, Nazi symps. In 2 years you’ll be like the hardcore Confederates in the South, “Ukraine will rise again!!” Not in my lifetime, nor yours.

  25. bruce wilder

@Mark Level — please don’t do gratuitous, personal insults. your aim is ridiculously wide of your target with me, but that is beside the point. i think you badly misread me on an earlier thread, but, again, beside the point. it isn’t worth prolonging an argument where we are not disagreeing from a base of common understanding, and certainly not where you shift the terms to unwarranted and deeply personal, angry contempt.

speculating or fantasizing a meeting in meatspace with an NPC caricature of me that sounds to me like a bar fight? that is bullying that could easily shade into threats.

i am asking you to reconsider, please, for the sake of the space

  26. Feral Finster

I am not celebrating anything. I am noting how the world actually is and how smart people act in the real world, whether we like it or not. Otherwise, Nat provides an argument from consequences.

And perhaps he could point to my praise of the MSM? Altmedia and MSM both live in fantasy words, just different ones.

  27. Feral Finster

Anyone who thinks Ukraine is becoming less corrupt isn’t talking to actual Ukrainians, nor are they reading “Events In Ukraine”.

  28. bruce wilder

The alt media are handicapped by the combination of the dearth of verifiable information with a flood of disinformation. The established media are contributing to the dearth and flood.

Many in the alt media are already marginalized for other reasons, but they remain vulnerable to further penalties. There may be a measure of safety in being at least slightly incompetent at times.

No one, to my knowledge, is exiling, imprisoning or sanctioning MSNow political affairs consultants for being insufferable fools.

  29. rkka

L&S: “ That perhaps Russia, your supposed friend,”

Russia has no friends in the West, but her Army & Navy & her Aerospace Forces, and ‘twas ever thus. This was proved in the ‘90s

“I mean, look at how being allied with Russia helped Assad and Syria.”

You speak of a Wahabi headchopper, lightly anointed with “Western” oil, being delayed in taking over Syria as if that was a Bad Thing.

“Yes, Iran is more akin to Ukraine in this regard. Iran is defending itself against an enemy or enemies who have engaged in illegal aggressive war against it just as Ukraine is defending itself against the same, so your last sentence could just as easily, maybe even more appropriately, be phrased as follows.”

That has 0 bearing on who’s winning or losing the war in Ukraine. None. Both combatant societies are under strain. Both combatant societies are taking damage. But Ukraine is the most rapidly shrinking human population on Earth, with deaths there exceeding births by 3-1, and Russia… is not.

  30. Mark Level

LAS reverts to his usual Both-Siderism bullshit, he has no other tricks in his bag. Since he nearly always makes bad faith arguments, 100% of the time when “Russia” in the mix, easy-peesy to pop his balloon animal, it wasn’t cute anyway.

“The point here is not that the West isn’t without sin but that Russia is also not without sin and the sins must never be forgiven let alone supported and enabled in real time as they are being committed. There are no good guys in this equation. They are all the baddies, but within that context, at least in regard to Ukraine and Russia, who invaded who?” Moron, Bernhardt covered this thoroughly on MoA, NATO moved steadily East toward Russia and then right to the border, since 2014 Cookies Nudelman Coup, Collective West built up 2 major armies of many 100s of Thousands for an Incursion into Russia, one was massed on the Border, a 2nd far West to police the Nazified Banderist state itself.

Less than 3 days before the Feb. 22 Defensive, “Provoked” invasion (you’ll never read the Scott Horton book, he knows whereof he spoke, the Z-Man demanded a Nuke to deploy against Russia from . . . somebody? The Big Lie by your ilk, “So unjust, Russia got to keep all the Nuclear Weapons, Ukraine got to keep none.”

This is one of the rare times Clinton was right. If Ukraine got Nukes so would countless other smaller states that had them deployed, Moldova and many others. This was untenable. Also (surprised at how uninformed you are), just as Finland currently can’t use their Nukes without US permission, neither could any of the Russian Satellite States, you couldn’t have Ukraine invading Poland, e.g., or threatening it with nukes.

Nobody gave the little Cocaine Comedian Nukes, there were a few adults in the Leadership room at that time. And are you completely unaware that in 2024, Ukraine tried an ill-starred and ultimately failed incursion into Kursk, all its soldiers except a lucky few were killed quickly outright or taken prisoner, Zelensky a worse general than Ukraine’s hero Hitler. See here, and no, wikipedia is anything but pro-Russian: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kursk_campaign

This was all stupid, cheap optics, like your fryer vat “bombs” on Russian targets to create lotsa smoke, no meaningful damage. To be fair, Syrsky could’ve shat out this turd, in any case it completely failed. Sadly, due to a great and productive day here, I have a hard stop for time, so I will need to continue this discussion later.

Tomorrow. To Bruce Wilder, I had great respect for you and agreed with you 90% of the time for a # of years, I am not ad-hominem attacking you for no reason, and unprovoked.

I lost an enormous amount of respect for you due to 3 posts, the first was when Rene Good was executed in cold blood, the killer swore “Bitch” after the crime. You did a post saying you didn’t care (like Melania’s sign on her back, Donald term one), you don’t like unsavory Lesbians with pink hair. Yes, Ms. Good’s lover was 30 feet away when she was executed, and had taunted the officer. To side with ICE because someone is gay, or because her lover had pink hair (I’ve had friends with multi-colored hair, blue, purple whatever. If it’s not your style don’t go there, you have no right to randomly call out others’ fashion choices, acting as if that somehow justifies murder.) Your action may have been pure cowardice, maybe you feared that like the rest of us who expressed disgust, you’d become an ICE target? (It is true that ICE tracked down an anti-ICE dad in a hotel in N.J. recently, took him into custody.) Your statement was still odious.

Next, you gestured that ICE was right to kill Alex Pretti, because (a) he had kicked out a taillight of an ICE vehicle at a previous demo, you were first to inform me of this, and (b) he was on a list. Well no, he wasn’t, he was murdered for acting like a gentleman and picking up an innocent woman that ICE thugs had thrown to the ground. Oh, and he had a legal-carry gun, never took it out or brandished it.

So no, the Death Penalty for minor vehicular damage and helping up a battered woman is unacceptable. Having taught psychology for some years, Kohlberg’s Hierarchy of Moral Judgment, you appear to be at the 3rd stage, of 6. https://www.simplypsychology.org/kohlberg.html

Corresponds to age 8-10 or 11: “Good Boy Morality.” Mommy and daddy say smashing another child’s toy cause you can’t play with it is wrong. (It is, ok.) Pretti damaged a taillight, okay. But nothing wrong with aiding a woman being abused publicly by numerous armed thugs. Nor should Good have been executed for improper parking, that’s not a Death Penalty crime. They were not legally deputized traffic cops, they could’ve asked her to move, when she blocked someone earlier outside the school and she was asked to move, she did so and was filmed doing so.

Third, you combined your hate of those who defy authority with broad-brush, racist and homophobic denunciations of 2 subcultures (I also taught sociology) about which you seem to know nothing, the gheys, and us Latinos. I am not accountable to you for respecting my Hispanic, Sardinian, and even Asian Mongolian heritage of only 11%, over the “white” nearly 89% of the rest of my genome. Sorry, it doesn’t work that way. I called out bullshit like LatinX with many friends, I know what it is to be Latino. Once I was on a bus in Port Arthur, TX when working there, a Redneck asshole told me I should go to the back of the bus with the other beaners, I told him to fuck off. He wisely desisted.

We can do better than that here, sorry you have chosen to not do so. You have 2 massive Achilles’ heel, a childish black/white view of morality, esp. viz sex and the gender spectrum, and contempt for cultures you seem not to understand. We can discuss this more if I’m wrong, enlighten me.

Oh, and your post yesterday was brilliant, I will say the same of you as LAS once graciously said of me, “ok, he seems to have a pretty high IQ.” A shame when prejudices negate that.

But I have to get back to you and LAS later, I have an offline life to live.

he AleTx Pretti innocent victim narrative accelerated when the response to a new example of how he had been aggressively confrontational in an early encounter kicking out a tail light was countered by the assertion that that earlier example of petty violence had resulted in him being targeted for assassination.
    _______________________________________________________________________________________________

Above is the receipt, bruce. This is from a January thread of this year by Ian, “America’s New Leaders in Waiting” are now known, something like that.

Like and Subscribe made several very GOOD points, he sometimes knows good from Evil. Dan Kelly good comment(s) too.

Referencing your own words, “The Alex Pretti innocent victim narrative accelerated when the response to a new example of how he had been aggressively confrontational in an early encounter kicking out a tail light . . . resulted in him being targeted for assassination.” Loony Toons conspiracy theory, I wish you were right, in that case his Murder was Premeditated and the people behind it could, under a future Dimmie Admin, face serious prosecution and the lengthy jail terms they deserve.

Still, you are clearly aware of Chomsky’s Good Victims v. Bad Victims dialectic, but unlike pretty much everyone on that thread, NR also had a great comment showing humanity, you think Pretti was a Bad Victim. This reflects some level of crypto-Fascist ideology in your thinking. (Note I’m not straw-manning, I acknowledge it’s at least Crypto-, not necessarily full on Fascist.)

Do you believe AntiFa is real? And that anyone claimed to be AntiFa by some Trump-toady directed agency should be tracked down and summarily executed, “proclivity for future Terrorism” charge, Predictive Crime Bureau (PK Dick’s Minority Report, book and movie)? You seem to be going there.

Now when Kamala fulfilled her Destiny and lost bigly, Diff Clue went on a disgusting tear for awhile about how “Anyone who didn’t vote for Pedophile Priest Protecting and Genocide and “40 Beheaded Babies+ Hamas Systematic Rape, Cutting off Women’s Breasts and playing with them,” etc. needs to have my “Face-Eating Leopards” visit them, I ridiculed him, alongside others. Classic Trump Derangement Syndrome, though we all at this point know Trump is Epstein PDF Files Racist Garbage, I have known that since the 1980s, nearly half a century.

DC dropped it in time, he’s my ally at least 90% of the time, haven’t called him out in months.

Feel free to dilate on your take above. Justify it or walk it back. (DC just dropped that Face-Eating Leopards idiocy, a mature choice.)

But I don’t Straw-man nor make up Facts in my own Karl Rove reality. If I’d ever written something so pro-Fascist, pro-homicide by government, with no basis, I wouldn’t show my face on this site again out of shame.

I’m not trying to drive you it, but you need to be an Adult and own what you have done and said, not lie that I made stuff up. “The Internet is Forever” (nearly).

  32. Feral Finster

@Mark Level: “25% of the time Finster is pure Nihilist, he cheers on Genocide and Death.”

I don’t cheer any of it on. I would be delighted if the word were different from what it is. But it isn’t.

  33. Hunka in a memoir for his local University in Canada called ’42-45 “the best years of my life.” That University refused to take that bio after the bad press. LAS should look into it, he’d certainly get off on the violence and racism.

Here’s what comes to mind when I think of Hunka. Yaroslav will not replace it.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zf2VYAtqRe0

Who would have thought? Elvis was a Nazi too. ” … a hunka, hunka burnin’ love.”

It’s a good thing Zelensky isn’t as weak as Corbin or else he would have capitulated long ago from the onslaught of false charges of nazism and anti-semitism. Russia has learned well from Israel how to play the nazi card but it’s increasingly not working any longer — more and more people see right through it. It’s rich for Russians to play this card when Stalin entered into a non-aggression pact with the loathsome, evil nazis and they both worked together carving up Poland. The NKVD was as terrible as the SS. They engaged in a reign of terror during the 20’s and 30’s, a reign of terror that prompted nationalist-minded Ukrainians to take up arms with what they believed were the lesser of two evils.

The Ukrainians knew the reds were worse than the nazis. The nazis would just kill them, but the reds would torture them endlessly and mercilessly and then kill them.

Here’s a good discussion related to the topic.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/UkrainianConflict/comments/16sbrmj/yaroslav_hunka_a_ukrainiancanadian_veteran_from/

That’s the problem. We only know the “basics”. We are taught about Nazi crimes but very little about Soviet crimes. We also assume that everyone knew that the Holocaust was happening in real time, but most people didn’t know about these horrors until after the Germans were defeated and the Allies liberated the camps. This kind of black/white perspective can only be adopted by people in the West in the present time because they have the knowledge today to do so. A teenager growing up in occupied Soviet Ukraine, who didn’t have this same knowledge, but who experienced first hand the crimes of the Soviets, whose own family members, teachers and friends were disappearig and /or being sent to Siberia, would obviously see them as worse. I’m pretty sure you would too if these were your circumstances.

  34. Mark Level

Finster– I will take you at your word.

Tone is hard to read sometime, that is why like Nat Wilson Turner I have regularly suspected you of full-on Nihilism; if I did you an injustice, I apologize and retract it. As I said with you at least 75% of the time, not always.

  35. Mark Level

LAS, the historical record on Hunka’s Division is entirely clear. The Waffen SS tortured, sometimes raped and often killed all the groups I listed above, generic slaughter of “Russians” or Russian-IDed civilians too, just like your heroes are doing today. I already cited the numbers generally assumed, won’t repeat myself. More books on WW II in English than on any other subject, for fuck’s sake!! More TV doc’s too for boomers, now for younger folks.

Children’s and Teen’s dormitory? Kill them all, no Military value, but makes the Nazis feel good. Easy pickings, what fun!! But you point, and gesture, and gaslight, Look, over there, a Shiny Thing!! “Zelensky isn’t as weak as Corbin,” dumbass he is a skilled Comedic Actor hired to play the Reincarnation of Winston Churchill for the Globalists, while having thousands of poor rural men (hopefully not Ukrainian, Russians best victims, Moldovans, Poles, Angelina Jolie’s chauffeur, who they grabbed inside Ukraine, she had to pay $1 million to the imaginary 4th Reich Aryan Entity for his freedom.) Apartheid regime, Russians dirty Slavs like Poles, Western Ukrainian Galicians true Ubermenschen, in their own tiny minds. On the S. Bandera wikipedia cage, he’s a wispy little man cross-dressed as a “Tatar” warrior. He ain’t no Stanislav Krapivnik, big blonde beast but anti-Fascist for the most part, not welcomed into Azov, served in regular US Army and for Halliburton, an Oil Expert.

But the Green Goblin’s grift is on its last legs, his Uniform fraying. I believe he WILL get out with his stolen billion$, but he’d better hide well in exile, he may meet the fate of Somoza, burned alive in his ironclad limousine.

Why won’t your bud TailLicker respond to the $100 million plus stolen by the World’s Highest Paid Actor’s #2 from TV days, now in the ZE (Zionist Entity, but you can’t have Zelensky without it), not available to “kill Russians,” so sad for y’all.

Russians did bad things too!! Wow, and water is wet. I have read Gunter Grass’ The Tin Drum, long ago, yes I know the Russian troops raped lots of German (& other) women en route to the West, out of rage over their 23 million + dead. The difference between the 2 of us is that I have an ethical compass, you don’t. You’re never gonna see me say here, “Well, the Russians had the right to rape those women and spread their genetically superior seed,” because I do not believe such nihilistic, racist garbage. You do!!

I looked out of curiosity on the Goggle this morning, do White Russian groups still survive anywhere, including the US? Not that I could find. Your Dead-Ender wish that the Russians will be exterminated, the sub-human vermin, has no basis in reality. You’re never gonna “get back” your beautiful Dachas and farmlands and serf slaves (whose women you can rape). Obama the other day caught starting to say George Washington was so Great, realized and hemmed and hawed, walked it back.

Due Dissidence covered this Sunday. Obama is not a member of the Class of black Americans whose ancestors suffered under slavery, nor is Michell Obama nor their children. Should Reparations ever be paid (when pigs fly, they won’t, U$A will NEVER throw out its Original Sin, White Supremacist Racism) they would not be compensated, their labor, food etc. stolen for 4 centuries. The term Russell Dobular used was something like FBAs, Foundational Black Americans, think that’s correct. Diff Clue can correct me if I got it wrong.

“We are taught . . . very little about Soviet crimes”!! An utter, gigantic Lie, only if your head is as far up your ass as yours is. HUAC never existed and destroyed people’s lives, actors, screenwriters, activists, etc. debanked them, banned and blacklisted from their professions, forced into exile. Nobody ever discussed Stalin’s Show Trials and murders of rivals. Put down the Crack Pipe, buddy!! Nobody’s ever heard of an obscure little book by Eric Blair, oops pen-name George Orwell, “I984.” Nor of Koestler’s “Darkness at Noon.” I read these decades ago. People have at least heard of The Diary of Ann Frank, a child killed by your heroes.

I mentioned your Ally Chrystia Freeland and her Memorials to the Victims of Communism Monument(s), the names of tens of thousands of Waffen SS “victims” like Hunka listed. I’m not gonna click on your silly link, any more than you would ever go to the local Library, check out Scott Horton’s “Provoked” and rebut it at length. You are incapable of such scholarship, your brain too slanted with Hate and Ethno-Supremacism.

You are the Blind Pig who found an acorn however, have at least a correct intuition viz the Etymology of Hunka= Honky. Eastern Europeans who came to the US with the name Hunka were called by black Americans first, then later the term “Honkey” spread more widely.

You and bruce wilder should start a pro-Fascist Union here on IW.Net, it would at least be entertaining. You made repeated, intelligent comments on the deaths of Rene Good and Alex Pretti by Trump’s & Stephen Miller’s Racial Purity squad. Oops, they were both good white people, NR noted Pretti a beloved ER Nurse, “patriotic” as the day is long, he lauded the US Military’s “liberation” (sic) of the dusky brown Filipino, Vietnamese and other people, Koreans, tens of millions slaughtered of “democracy,” the Big Lie.

I don’t think he deserved to be executed without trial for that, it is tragic and disgusting. The irony is that they weren’t killing “Beaners,” “Spics”, etc. they killed middle-class productive white people, their Crime was Empathy with others.

Sometimes when one blindly hates, as you do, LAS, your machine guns kill innocents as well as the “Guilty”, anti-Fascists. Not that you would care.

Scott Ritter is on Fire here, at the end he apologizes to Nima, he got “triggered” by Vance’s glib ignorance. OK. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZN31eTxWpAs

I agree with him, Russia will win in due time. No respect for Rumsfeld, I know that he stole his “known knowns” and “unknown knowns” from a greater mind than his own, plagiarized insight. However even the clunkiest Mental Shorthand find its moment of application if enough time passes.

I have entirely given up on the Doctorow v. Ritter, Putin is Despised, Putin is Wise argument. Ritter admits his own and the other US High Command ignorance at the beginning of the War viz its duration and Strategy.

Russia like ZE (Apartheid Regime) does Strategy, clowns like the Cocaine Comedian TV Regime only do Narrative Tactics. “We slaughtered 30-some students at a boarding school today, so much Winning!!” “We set off a Petrol bomb that made really giant smoke cloud!” Meantime Russia takes land, slowly, every single day.

I will know when Phase 1 of the War is done, the 5 Oblasts gained fully, a matter of months, not years, who was right. De-Nazification will have to follow, along with carving out a strategic Buffer Zone in the West. An irony that in USA, the dumbest Libs think Monuments to Nazis in Ukraine okay, even though they supported BLM and taking down the Confederate Monuments, or those to Slave Owners. I have explained this to about 15 people over the past 3.5 years, only 3 or so got it. Better than nothing.

Again, assuming Finns not given the okay to launch Nukes, and the whole Planet Burns.

“ That’s the problem. We only know the “basics”. We are taught about Nazi crimes but very little about Soviet crimes.”

Everyone knows about the Red Army raping German women by the million in ‘45. Popular histories of the Battle of Berlin in the West have coverd this in detail since the ‘60s.

Nobody cares that 3m German troops in the USSR were there for 3 years, with no military law to discipline them, because Adolf had suspended German military law on treatment of civilians in the Barbarossa order. Rape got so out of hand that German military leaders had to regulate it:
Round up some local girls, house them, feed them, clean sheets, etc, what could be finer. Medical checks too! Except…

If a girl got a Venetian disease in one of these fine German institutions, her treatment was a bullet to the head.

What is also nearly unknown in the West was the ferocious Soviet military-judicial response to these crimes by Soviet troops in Germany. For his magisterial tome on the Eastern Front “The Road to Berlin,” Professor John Erickson got to examine the Soviet Army’s large archive of field military tribunals & courts martial held to try Soviet soldiers & officers for their crimes against German civilians. What struck Erickson most strongly was that the fact that the Germans had killed a Soviet soldier’s entire family was not admitted as a mitigating circumstance in these proceedings.

There is no corresponding military judicial archive in Berlin, because the only way a German soldier could get in trouble for involvement with a Soviet girl was if the relationship was consensual, for that violated the Nurnburg Laws on racial purity.

As to other Soviet crimes in Ukraine & the Baltics, one of the quickest ways to reduce them to outraged spluttering is to point out to them that if Adolf had won his war with Iosif, there would quite likely now be no Estonians in Estonian, no Latvians in Latvia, no Lithuanians in Lithuania, no Poles in Poland, and no Ukrainians in Ukraine.

rkka, thank you much, a masterful bookend/ complement to my more humble takedown of Lie and Suborn’s crackhead fantasy, “Nobody’s ever mentioned or talked about Russian War Crimes” (scratches head), Me Wonders Why. Next LAS will look at a map of Canada, Great Slave Lake (don’t have to wonder what that’s all about) and announce that it’s bigger than the Pacific Ocean, a puny would-be competitor.

A World War, most deaths ever since the Black Death in Medieval times, and over 8 decades ZERO interest from anybody but a tiny cadre of scholars? So absurd. Does a single person on here buy his nonsense? (Okay, Tallifer and the other NAFO clowns, that one day they swarmed.)

I came on here to correct a misstatement by myself I think on Saturday morning: The 6 votes of SCotUS preserving 14th Amendment Birthright Citizenship, neither Alito nor Thomas voted majority, they and Gorsuch were the 3rd to say, “Get all the non-whites out.”

I heard the NPR discussion just b4 and after as the decision announced on a grocery run. Steve Inskeep noted beforehand that Alito had done some of the most lacerating questioning of the Trump Lawyer/Moron, he didn’t even have answers for most questions. And said even Uncle Thomas seemed a negative. Nope!!

Gorsuch only good on one issue, from the Left. He has been a great supporter of Native American Land and Culture rights, Sovereignty even if limited. Well, nice to have 1 virtue, better than 0.

On Tuesday, Due Dissidence covered that all the CHUDs hating the most on Amy Comey Barrett, the one woman on the CHUD side, a “traitor” and a “N—–r Lover.” They hate her because she adopted 2 children from Haiti, is diluting the clean white veins of USA!! How terrible to save children from US engendered-poverty, low wages and poverty, bring them to USA and give them a great education and likely bright future, Race Traitor!!

I’m generally no fan of the fetus fellators, BUT that said, when someone like Comey-Barrett walks the walk, nothing but (temporary but real) Respect for her. And Boofoo boy (it means “farting” in his H.S. Yearbook, not Anal Sex he claims, the more specific usage, used more frequently) Brett Kavanaugh not a racist Forced Deporter (Obama holds the record among Presidents, last I checked), maybe a smidgen of his Catholic Faith is genuine? I can’t know but actions do speak louder than words, JD Vance’s proclaimed faith a pure PsyOp for dumb voters, he agreed Pope Leo had the Right to criticize God-Emperor Trump, but said his being anti-War was spitting in Jesus’ face!! Well maybe not Jesus, this is Augustine and Aquinas, neither really fit to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment. Are Catholics still dissuaded from reading the Holy Bible? I don’t know, probably, your Priest (but not your Nun) knows better, they will pour their Wisdom into your brain, believe it all, and vote Vance!!

    M. Level,

Thank you. The War in the East has been the study of my life, and the English speaking world misunderstands it deeply, from the diplomacy that led to it, its course & outcome, to its aftermath.

For instance, the world was shocked when Charles McLaren, Lord Aberconway, revealed in 1999 that his visit with Goering on August 7-8 1939, to explore the possibility of a second “Munich” to address German concerns for Lebensraum, had Cabinet-level political authority, while the British military delegation puttered towards Leningrad at 11 knots for the Anglo-French-Soviet military staff talks in Moscow that opened on August 12 had no political authority behind them whatsoever. The total futility of those discussions led straight to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, even though the Soviet government knew they were Adolf’s ultimate target.

Aberconway’s revelation has yet to have had impact on the scholarly literature, let alone the popular.

It’s no surprise that the English-speaking world has its mind only on “The Narrative” during the present unpleasantness in Ukraine, for that’s all they’ve really got for the period from 1933 on.

What could have been is irrelevant. What is relevant is what was and what is. If Adolph had conquered the world is a useless, albeit entertaining, thought exercise (The Man in the High Castle, for example). I say useless because Adolph could never have taken over the world. It was never in the cards. In fact, precisely what transpired was what was in the cards, hence it was what transpired.

That aside, you’re too funny in your claim everyone knows about the mass raping of Germans by the reds versus the nazis and their Holocaust. We need Jay Leno to get out on the street again and quiz the public about this. My guess is pretty much everyone he questioned would have no idea about the red army rape fest. As for the the Soviets reaction to the epidemic of rapes of Germans among their ranks, well, it’s likened to Stalin and his butchers sending food aid to the Ukrainians after starving them for years during the Holodomor. There is no better way to squash nationalism than to starve it to death, collateral damage be damned. I guarantee you these same people Leno interviews also have no clue about the Holodomor genocide as well as the reign of terror of the NKVD to include the Katyn Forest Massacre as well as the Ukrainian Prisoner Massacres not to mention the Great Political Purges. All of that was responsible for millions upon millions of deaths. It was pure evil — as evil as anything the nazis perpetrated and most people in the West are still clueless about it to this day because the nazis carry such cache it overshadows any scrutiny of soviet atrocities. Israel and the zionists have been helpful in this regard. By cashing in on the Holocaust, they consumed all of the oxygen out of the atrocity room. They win the competition hands down and Russia is thankful for Israel and the zionists serendipitously carrying their genocidal apologia water for them.

I’m not even going to respond to all that rotten spaghetti that LAS just threw onto the Wall, I will let Caitlin Johnstone speak for me, see here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sk5IIOkj3vQ

Mamdami et al advocate “Communism” which will destroy the US ‘coz Late Oligarchic Capitalism has created such a Paradise here. The Dimmiecraps, see mainly the bitter old Turtle Man James Carville are responding to the rise of Democratic Socialism in the voting base by– Red-hunting and trying to kick any actual Lefties out of the Party. Yeah, drive your vote totals even lower, you idiots; Hillary and Kamala both lost and gave us Trump not just due to Obama’s machinations, but because they offered nothing to the people suffering from inequality, demand fealty to the ZE (Zionist Entity) above the US, etc. And the failed Children’s Crusade against “evil Russia,” etc. When Dimmie voters won’t show up (see Wisconsin, 2016) because hated swill like Hillary are installed atop the ticket, we get the R’s and Trump looting and racialized ICE, full-on Fascism.

Nota Bene to rkka, as he hasn’t been on this site as long as I have. When LAS 1st came on here, one of his big Laughfests was the claim, “Hitler really punked Stalin with the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact!!” Lol, riiiight, that’s why Stalin died in a bunker shot through the head by his own troops and the body partially incinerated so Hitler wouldn’t get a war prize. (Which he later did, part of the Spinal Column.) And Hitler went on for decades to rule Eastern Europe and Russia, no?

Well, not exactly. Another great LAS prediction: (paraphrased) “Putin is about to send 1 million MORE soldiers into beautiful Keev to occupy it and be killed off, the Russians don’t value their soldiers’ lives, Ukraine does– even though LAS like Lindsey Graham wants them to die to the last Ukrainian. Lying that there were 1 million dead Russians 3 years into the SMO, most judicious authorities estimated more like 200K, to the 2M Ukrainians (& dragooned Russians, Moldovans, Poles etc.) lost by Ukraine.

And they are, have– even the MSM admits more than 2 million dead Ukrainians, 1.5 million or more in exile, and we’re not even finished yet. Great job, Lie and Suborn, no wonder so many people on this site linger over your every gnomic utterance of Wisdom, and people like me and rkka are totally marginalized and largely ignored.

Oh, a closing news update– The Polish president is blocking Ukraine’s entry into both the EU and NATO (which was likely a vain wish in any case, as it’s a basket case) because of the Canonization of Bandera and other Nazis in the Ukrainian state. How to lose friends and alienate people. Zelensky doubled down, we can worship whomever we want, Bandera, Mindich (his remains reburied with honors), Himmler et al. No further comment needed.

  42. About Nawrocki, this is a fair and balanced take on the matter.

    https://www.aei.org/op-eds/trumps-friend-in-poland-is-doing-putin-a-huge-favor/

Zelensky’s UPA decree was an unforced error. Sybiha’s claim that the soldiers themselves chose the name and “had no intention of offending the friendly Polish people” may have been true, but it’s entirely beside the point. Faced with initial indignation from Poland, he doubled down by retorting that the White Eagle still adorns the chests of Catherine the Great, Benito Mussolini, and Gerhard Schröder—which also is beside the point.

The rank hypocrisy. Poland never retracted the White Cross bequeathed to the original fascist Benito Mussolini or Catherine the Great, the imperialist conqueror. Nawrocki is a historian, so he knows better thus his hypocrisy is that much more stark/poignant and transparent.

Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia, played a central role in the destruction of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Through political manipulation, military intervention, and orchestration of the three partitions of Poland (1772, 1793, 1795), she effectively wiped the country off the map of Europe.

Here is a List of Zelensky’s “Nationalist Heroes” List, from NPR’s “The Conversation,” so of course a bit shallow and Lib-clueless, but basic facts are there, including Poles now hate the Ukrainians, old “Alliance” broken forever. https://theconversation.com/zelenskyys-honouring-of-wartime-nationalists-is-straining-ukraines-alliance-with-poland-284408

When LAS shared throwing his CPA sheepskin into the trash can, not wanting to be Evil, I took him at his word, expressed limited admiration for that action, I now retract that. LAS is like his hero, Andriy Biletsky, a Nazi war criminal, avowed enemy of “the Semitic-led Untermenschen,” genocidal lunatic. See a good summary of A.B’s ideology and activities here, from Scott Horton, at AntiWar.Com, by Scott Horton:
    https://www.antiwar.com/blog/2025/04/22/ukrainian-racial-social-nationalism/

As to Tallifer’s Shameless Lies that Ukraine is committed to “human rights and the rule of Law”, unlike the savage Slavs, her Big Lie is caught out in this quote, where the veneer of “Democracy” is dismissively thrown into the Trash-Can of history–

“From the principle of Sociality follows our complete denial of democracy and liberalism, which give rise to the defeat of the Nation into isolated units and the power of the gray crowd over prominent personalities (oclocracy). Instead, we put forward the ideas of National Solidarity, the Natural Hierarchy and the Hard Discipline as the Foundation of Our New Society. Not a “democratic vote” of a crowd that cannot give advice to its own life, not because the life of the State, but the natural selection of the best representatives of the Nation – innate leaders-conductors. Anyone who believes that such a system of power is unacceptable, let him think about whether the modern power system is acceptable, in which prostitutes and academics have an equal right to vote, where a degraded drug addict or pederast is equally valued in elections with the commander of the tank division. People by nature are born with different abilities and capabilities, and therefore the greatest happiness of a person is when he finds his own place in the National Hierarchy and conscientiously fulfills his life task.”

” . . . the commander of a tank division” ranks, has value. Mothers, fathers, children, even priests don’t rank. Killing is the only value, kill the weak, faggots, deviants, intellectuals (who aren’t Nazi) etc. Are either Tallifer or LAS at a high enough Nietzschean Superman, Will-to-Power, Murderous Berserkers level to run with these Monsters? Color me skeptical, I think they would both be raped or enslaved in a New York second.

I’ve shared I had a former friend who became a Nazi– I looked for him at the Charlottesville Unite the Right 2018 Rally, don’t think he ever showed. A deeply “bourgeois” individual, which LAS has often deprecated; I agree with Crowley’s contention that “Bourgeois consciousness is incompatible with Spiritual growth”, which I personally endorse. I have contempt for some bourgeois, David Brooks e.g.

But I’m not a serial killer. My former buddy Keith knew better than to run with that crowd, they would see him as prey, wisely stood down. I guess Tallifer and LAS are pretty much the same.

NO pretense that individual human lives have any value, in “the Hard Discipline . . . or Our New Society,” pure Social Darwinism under a Hard Hierarchy rules. Imagine if T/LAS’ fantasies came through? Would they go live in the New Ukraine? Only if they want to end up like Gonzalo Lira did. It’s exactly equivalent to all the Hysterical, Bloodthirsty US Zionists who won’t emigrate to the Apartheid/ZE entity and live there. Randy Fine and many others won’t put their fat asses on the line.

“Oclocracy”!! New vocab for me, too hideous to look up. Maybe LAS can enlighten us as to its value. Does he practice it in his own family unit? The more fanatical Ayn Rand cult members openly argued that Parents should be allowed to sell their children into slavery. Would LAS/T go there?

    L&S:

Adolf didn’t wanna take over the world, just build his “Thousand-Year Reich” of a few hundred million Germans on the graves of the “Untermenschen” infesting it, to include Estonians, Latvians, Lithuanians, Poles, Ukrainians, & Belarus.

His model was US’s Western expansion. He even called the “Untermenschen” to his East “My Redskins”

  45. Adolf didn’t wanna take over the world …

Sure he did. His goal was world domination which is effectively taking over the world. Hitler and the nazis conjured a powerful egregore and that egregore took on a mind and a spirit of its own that transcended but represented the fascists’ collective conscious and unconscious.
