Well, the “ceasefire” sucked while it lasted, but the war will suck more. Multiple US attacks on Iran, and Iranian retaliation against US bases. America hit water supply in some minor Iranian cities as well. We’ll see if it’s a brief spam or a full on resumption of war.
I suppose this was inevitable. Trump isn’t feeling enough pain, because Americans aren’t transmitting it to him yet. There’s been a lot of work on keeping gas prices low, at the cost of actual shortages starting in about a month to two months, and Trump won’t sign any deal Iran will accept, nor will he reign in Israel in Lebanon, which Iran apparently does actually see as a bottom line demand.
This is you going to hurt most of readers if it continues. A LOT. The Iranians have stated they’ll hit oil harder this time, and the world is already on the brink. The economic tsunamin coming will be unlike anything seen since the oil shocks, without the ability to simply “pay up” since the actual infrastructure will take years to rebuild.
This is shit-crazy. Absolute disconnect between elite interests (where they just raise prices) and the interests of 90% of the world’s population. We are talking famines in many countries, people going hungry even in the first world, lots of basic goods in short supply (for example most pills use hydrocrarbons and then there are plastic shortages, chip shortages, etc, etc…)
The bottom line remains that the US can’t actually beat Iran, since it can’t take out their missiles. So this is just a question of who can take the pain longer and whose military supplies will last longer, and my money is still that the US and Israel run out of interceptors before Iran runs out of missiles.
We’ll see if Iran stops playing around. I’d personally send some ranging missiles near the Israeli desalination plants, then suggest that as an indication of good faith half the Iranian money seized by the US be sent within 48 hours. If not, take out a plant. Ask again, this time 55%.
Iran needs to indicate that it can actually destroy Israel (which it can) and that it’s willing to do so because it seems like Israel is making all the actual decisions.
We’ll see how this plays out. Meanwhile, if you can, stock up on basic staples. You’ll be grateful you did.

I’ve been following this insanity for years before February 27, 2026 and have been following it closely since then, mainly through Yves Smith’s excellent and extensive coverage at NC.
I attempted to stockpile according to my limited means earlier in this fiasco, but I’ve used much of my inventory and have to try again as best as able while there’s still a supply.
Grab it while you can folks, and that means other staples beyond food, because while it’s kinda sorta gradual now, it’s going to be sudden, like a tropic sunset when it hits.

There is a silver lining to all this: Large swaths of the world is responding by accelerating the energy transition. This is particularly pronounced in Asia, the place Alberta plans to sell its tar sands oil if it gets an extra pipeline and BC wants to sell its LNG. Most Asian countries have decided that getting off of imported fossil fuels is both a cost and a national security issue and they better do the shift pronto. Laos is actually banning the sale of ICE cars. Luckily for those Asian countries, China is totally ready to sell them all the solar panels and batteries and EVs and E-trucks they could want.
Their imports of fossil fuels are going to wane quickly. Prices will drop, and high-priced producers, like BC LNG and the tar sands, will be priced out of the market. By the time any new Alberta pipeline can be built, new tar sands production brought online, or most of the LNG plays in BC brought into production, there will be no market for any of them. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure prices will be stupidly high for a while and high for a couple of years, but it takes much longer than that to build a pipeline.

I don’t see a lot of indication that Iran is an existential threat to Israel. The desalination plants aren’t actually that big and we’ve seen no indications, at least yet, that the Iranians have anything that can range them with a small enough CEP to hold them at existential threat. Even if they do have unseen systems that can, there’s enough groundwater resource in the country that the Israelis could tide themselves over until they could be rebuilt (particularly if they steal from southern Lebanon and the OT, which they would in a heartbeat).
Analytically, the major hurdle that one has to jump over is that if the Iranians are such badasses that they can badly hurt / destroy the Israeli heartland, why haven’t they? Their top leadership echelon has been more than decimated, they’ve had their strategic option set (which has taken decades and billions to build) significantly reduced, yet they’ve dispensed by far the bulk of the pain in their immediate neighbourhood – which has a lot of negative consequences for them that are going to take decades to work out. If there was ever a time to deploy an effective force de frappe against the far enemy, this is it.

And I think that we’re going to continue to see the US assault, US attacks go on for the next couple days sustained where we’re going to see it pretty continuous and then some type of naval action.
I’m not going to call it an invasion because it’s we’re not invading mainland uh Iran. what I think is going to be a a naval assault, a naval raid in addition to ground forces in a very limited way onto Qeshm Island to seize Qeshm Island to allow naval forces to then get into the strait in force.
That’s what I think’s coming next. We want to get naval forces into the Persian Gulf.
And here is what Iran’s central headquarter announced. They have announced the full closure of the trade of Hormuz.
It says, following the aggression of the American forces and considering the start of attacks by its invading army on some areas in the south of Hormozgan province – which is the province of the Bushehr reactor and that part.
From this moment, due to insecurity in the region, the Straight of Hormuz is declared closed for the passage of any type of vessel including oil tankers and commercial ships and any passage will be targeted and so far they targeted two ships in the straight.
These two ships tried to cross the straight of they were hit by Iranian drones or missiles. We don’t know that yet, but this is what is happening.
And Donald Trump is claiming – the Wall Street Journal just reported that Trump has not abandoned diplomacy with Iran although his patience is increasingly strained.
I don’t know. Is that the way to comm to communicate with Iranians?
He had this sort of experience in 40 days of war. He wanted to force Iran into some sort of position. That didn’t happen. And he’s trying to do the same thing here.
Right now, if the straight is totally closed, it means that no Chinese ships, no Pakistani ship, no Russian ship, nobody is going to pass through the Straight of Hormuz.
That’s going to hugely influence the price of oil in the market.
And here’s where we see the strategic relationships or at least strategic transactional relationships come into play.
Let us have no doubt that before Iran made the announcement that the straight is shut down to everything that they didn’t coordinate or at least communicate with Russia and China to say Hey: We are being attacked.
In fact, a lot of the – not, I wouldn’t say a lot of, but some of – and out of the some of it the the critical because let’s not forget the PLA the People’s Liberation Army Navy still has a reconnaissance and surveillance ship off the coast of Iran somewhere up in there.
So, the US better be pretty darn careful when it’s conducting strikes along these coastal areas because if it hits that ship, China’s coming in and that’s a front we can’t face right now.
So it’s very clear that the United States is planning a fullscale or at least a a fuller scale navy type of operation into the Strait of Hermuz.
I firmly believe that everything, looking at it in terms of what’s there, resources, planning, logistics, action, strikes, targets, all indicate such…
Or it is a it is a strategic distraction, a strategic feignt, if you will, to draw all of Iranians resources to the straight?
And in order to do that, you have to present something real.
You can’t fake it. you have to put things in the in the in the line of fire as a great distraction to conduct some type of raid into Iran for the uranium piece because remember that’s kind of the thing that Donald Trump needs to show America and his base and the war hawks of the United States and everybody else that said bomb bomb bomb, there’s going to be a bomb…he has to show something. This Iranian uranian is something that Trump has to address.
So this is either the opening phase of an operation to get naval assets into the Persian Gulf to set up north of the strait in the Persian Gulf.
Seize Qeshm, hold that area in order to basically make a path, a route where the US can freely come in from the south with nothing to interdict.
Will they try to do something into mainland Iran?
This operation is the great distraction, the great feignt to draw resources south to then do something further north in north central Iran to seize that uranium.
But we do know that regardless of if it’s for that or this, that Iran sees it, the world sees it.
I’m sure that Iran has been getting intelligence from China that says here’s how the US is operating out in the Arabian Sea and even in the Indian Ocean because our kind of our naval assets are emanating from the Indian Ocean.

The only way we can isolate US naval forces to where we can go guns free, meaning you can shoot at everything.
Anything that enters the straight of Hormuz now is considered hostile from the American side and the and the Iranian side because Iran has made that edict that hey, it’s closed to everything.
Nobody goes in.
So if you’re the US, well, if something’s in there, it’s hostile. If you’re Iran, if something’s in there, it’s hostile.
So, guns free in the straight of Hormuz, telling China and Russia the only way to isolate US naval forces in the street of Hormuz is to shut it completely. We know it’s going to hurt you so we’re telling you ahead of time and oh by the way we need your help.

Having not fallen off the turnip truck last Tuesday, I have noticed that Israel has special weapons, but I don’t think that is the primary driver here.
All Iran has to do to completely re-set the deterrence calculus with Israel is put four or five unitary warheads in a 300m circle. That’s it. If they can demonstrate that capability, then a vast array of very meaningful targets can be held at threat and Israel has to think about the consequences of actions in Lebanon. Pick an unlucky Amazon fulfillment centre and let fly; that isn’t going to trigger a nuclear reprisal. They have not done this and – at least based on what they’ve fielded – I don’t yet see any evidence that they can.
I don’t think this is some sort of Iranian 3d chess. They’re under extreme threat and they’ve already demonstrated that they will go after the highest tier targets; Unit 8200, the Kirya, maybe Soreq, the IAF’s premier long-range basing, Rafael’s big R&D complex, Weizmann, maybe Sdot Micha, refining capacity, etc. Their challenge is that they don’t have the CEP or the sortie generation to reliably destroy these targets, though Weizmann does demonstrate that they can get lucky, particularly with non-hardened targets.
During the back half of this conflict, in the main, what they’ve been getting through is small numbers of rockets that lay down seven or eight km long bomblet spills that basically only demonstrate that they successfully can hit the planet. This most recent go-round they hit a structure at Ramat David with a unitary warhead – okay, great symbolic target selection given what units are hosted at the base (i.e., those most oriented towards operations in Lebanon), but not a meaningful degradation of Israeli military capability and not the sort of thing that is going to have any deterrent effect.

Americans have very few ways to transmit any actual pain to Trump. Too many big beautiful walls of class power and privilege stand between us and Trump. Also, Trump doesn’t feel pain the same way that normal humans feel it.
The only way I can think of to transmit actual pain to Trump its own self is to cause him Narcissistic Injury. That is one kind of pain that he is very sensitive to. If there were a way for tens of millions of Americans to very directly make him feel the weight and heat of our despisement and hatred for Trump, we might be able to accelerate his Narcissistic Collapse to the point where his brain goes so totally Chernobyl inside his skull that his circle of thinking brain dogs and exploiters decides that letting him stay alive is too risky for their survival. At which point they might contrive to get him into a hospital and then use friends on the inside to “kevork” the President.
And then present the body to a grieving MAGA nation. While a rejoicing counterMAGA nation holds vast ” Hail Dorothy!” parties from coast to coast and border to border. And hopefully his vile children get to see it on the news.
So, mah fella’ Amurricans ( as President Johnson used to say), how can we cause Trump so many unbearable Narcissistic Injuries that he goes so totally Full Chimp-Out Ape-Shit that his handlers decide they have to put the old dog down?

This could be a small example of the kind of infliction of narcissistic injury I am talking about. Only this one is inflicted by someone with more power than I have, namely Anderson Cooper and CNN.

It won’t be enough to make Trump’s brain go Chernobyl all at once, or all by itself. But hopefully other media people and things of moderate power can do their own versions of the same thing.
Meanwhile, what can ordinary mere citizens like myself with near zero power do to create an unbearable weight of narcissistic micro-injuries upon the President? I will offer a few ideas and I hope other people offer other ideas, possibly better ones.
After all, we never know who’s reading these comments. Perhaps someone might like an idea so well that they might bring it to some people who could weaponize it and viralize it.
