As everyone with sense has noted the rise in anti-semitism, such as it is (much measured anti-semitism is fake, since outfits like ADL count people saying “from the river to the sea” or “free Palestine” as anti-semitic) is caused by Israel saying it’s the only Jewish nation and that any criticism of its genocide are anti-semitic.
Well, if Israel = Jewish = Genocide, which is the logic of these statements, then people are going to be anti-semitic.
This isn’t helped by the fact the majority of synagogues raise money for Israel, and many sell stolen Palestinian land and recruit soldiers for the IDF.
There’s also the rising presumption that if someone is Israeli, they’re a war criminal who has probably killed women and children. The majority of casualties in Gaza are women and children, after all, and Israel has a draft. Unless an Israeli wasn’t drafted because of religious exceptions, or went to prison, they’ve been in the IDF and given how Israel makes war they’ve either killed kids, or helped other military members kill kids.
Then there was the time that prison guards were caught on tape raping a prisoner, and the only person charged with a crime was the person who released the video. The guards have become celebrities, going on TV, and there were huge demonstration in their support.
The majority of Israelis appear to be, forgive the word, evil. They approve of rape. They approve of genocide. Most of them have helped kill civilians. (Civilian murder was common long before the straight up genocide, and targeting of children is well documented. Israeli snipers in particular love shooting kids.)
So the Star of David is now a symbol of genocide, like the Swastika. Israeli citizenship means the presumption of actual participation in the murder of civilians, and even if somehow one avoided that, the majority of the population supports the genocide, as well as rape of prisoners.
I’ve never seen a country destroy its reputation so quickly. America, widely hated, took generations to land itself in the garbage heap of world opinion. Israelis have managed it in a few years, and because of their conflation of Israel with Judaism have managed to also smear Jews as a group. I feel for those Jews, and they do exist, who have opposed Israel and Zionism. But as with Germans who opposed Hitler and genocide, they’re going to smeared with everyone else.
In the past I said it would happen, now it has. I personally will not do business or be friends with any Israeli who didn’t refuse the draft, and I won’t be friends with anyone, Jewish or not who is a Zionist. Any politician, journalist or business leader who supported the genocide is dead to me, and what little influence or power I have, for as long as I live, will be used to see them prosecuted for their crimes.
As for Israel, it’s going to have to be de-Zionized. I don’t know how we get there, but the first step is ending US and European support, and the first step to that will be replacing current Zionist leaders and throwing them in prison. All pro-Zionist lobbies will have to be broken up, and their funders and operatives tried for their crimes.
Israel’s not a strong country. It appears strong because of vast support from America and from rich Zionists who have bought political support in America and Europe. If that support ends, Israel is doomed, and that’s the only way they’ll stop committing war crimes, raping and torturing.
Perhaps in a few centuries the Star of David will lose its association with genocide. Till then, if you wear it or display it, people will and should assume that you’re either a war criminal, or support war criminals.

When I upgraded to a paid Google account, the web hosting was provided by Wix. I only found out later that Wix is an Israeli company, whereupon I immediately de-Googled (moving to Proton) and de-Wixed. No company will tell you that it’s Israeli, but other Israeli tech companies include Any.do, Simply Piano and ExpressVPN. The ExpressVPN “About Us” page only contains information about the product, but nothing about who owns and runs the company. I can’t promise that switching away from these companies will change the world, but it certainly makes me feel better.

Ian. You are absolutely right. I have denounced my identity as part of that. I cancelled my citizenship of that demonic entity.
In all my life I never met one of those people who supported the truth or doubted their right to steal, murder and rape all day and night.
Some of the group do support justice and truth but they are a small minority and tend to advertise themselves, understandably. We know the famous ones (although I have my doubts if they’re all truly recovered. I even have those doubts about myself) amd we know the ones who join protests and generally speak out.

I have shared that I grew up with a German Jewish last name, although I keep the covenant and am circumcised (not my choice, standard in Midwest when I was born), I was slightly relieved to see the family stories that we were Jewish were false, 23&Me straightened me out.

We could make Resolutions from the Floor and vote on them. There was a wonderful older lady named something like Sister Peace, she wrote a resolution that we support children, we should denounce the jailing, torture etc. of Palestinian children in Israel. I was very proud that the California Delegation I was in approved it. Very acrimonious before the vote, the Zio CryBullies were all screaming at us that we’re horribel “anti-Semites”, those children are only degenerate Terrorists, etc.
I had my delegate badge with my name on. There was an elderly Zionist Man, he and his wife were among the screamers, he saw my name at lunch a few days later, I do look Mediterranean ‘coz I am 10% so, cornered me and asked: “Have you ever done Aliyaah?” I told him calmly that I really wasn’t interested. “Oh, you really need to go, they’re so advanced in Tech, business, education, it’s a great place,” etc. I demurred again.
Were I approached again today, I would be a lot less polite, and a lot ruder.

Discovering you’re not Jewish is a relief.
While doing an orthodox conversion into that religion takes two years of hard study and conformity to strict religious rules and regulations amd whatnot, I can’t seem to find any formal process of renunciation.
I used to think that I was lumbered with that identity despite my gradual disengagement from the whole thing through my twenties and thirties. Only recently I just realised, fuckit, all I need is to decide I’m not one of them.
Meanwhile, the great and good of British showbiz Jewry all (ok I’m sure someone didn’t) advertised their fealty to the demonic entity shortly after the resistance operation of October 2023 (and the holocaust of Palestinians goes on, the Lebanese too). I particularly notice Stephen Fry, who’s everyone’s favourite pseudo intellectual uncle with a public school accent, is everywhere and has not met with any consequences since the general public don’t largely care. Then you have Maureen Lipman who’s a bloodcurdlingly vicious genocide fan and Matt Lucas and David Baddiel etc who all wave the above pictured flag and express their genocidal fandom.
No one bats an eyelid.
To be clear, I am not advocating any physical action to be directed at anyone who is not on the battlefield but I have stopped engaging with genocidal people’s art, entertainment and cultural stuff myself. I have also ended contact with my family and don’t have any interaction in my personl life with anyone from that group. Unless, of course, I know they are meaningfully anti the genocide and occupation. In that case I don’t have any problem with that person.
But, as I said before, despite being aware of Jewish pro Palestine people in various media and political circles, I’ve never knowingly bumped into such a person for all my years within that group and it was always clear that the slightest doubt about the demonic entity was not to be entertained.
I broke my resolution to obey GDR rules. Maybe it’s too late anyway and I’m flagged for the gulag with the rest of you.

Yes, the big secret on my mother’s side of the family is that we were a “despised race,” Spaniards, if you can believe that!! Despised as swarthy Mediterraneans. Shit, the Spanish are another massive former Empire, along with English when I have travelled, I always came across other Spanish speakers, 2 Empires that left their language in worldwide diffusion, e.g. lots of Germans, Indians, French etc. speak English, Spanish to a slightly smaller level a lingua franca across the globe.
My family had so many secrets that I had to investigate and overturn. One irony of my family history is that the “White” side, my dad’s, were dirt poor (until his generation, the first to go to colllege in his family in the 1950s, became quite wealthy in insurance by his early 30s and later). My mother’s “Brown” family were very well-off, my maternal grandfather was an engineer in the Detroit area during WW II, they were goddamn Methodists (see my previous take on Chris Hedges and the cultural desert of Presbyterianism), not really a religion, more like a Brahmin caste of uptight honkies. My parents met in Michigan, mom attended the best University, U of M, dad went to the Party School, Michigan State. Mom converted to Catholicism to honor my dad’s Irish heritage, we were nominally raised Catholic. Luckily, my parents were both quite smart, they made us go to church until early teens, got bored with it themselves, non-believers (I’m sure like me by my late teens, they disliked the superstition and anti-sex mania.) They were 2x a year Catholics, Xmas and Easter.
We all get the cards we’re dealt at birth, I was luckier than like 90% of those I knew, on the whole. I started 2 years at University of Chicago when I was 17, did great the first year, started to flounder with a Sophomore slump, working thru some alienation and entropy about the horrible US culture, and being at a college with very few women, couldn’t lose my virginity for awhile. I had to drop out the summer I was 19 when my dad threatened to have me “committed to an institution” for smoking pot!! It was a vain threat, I wasn’t mentally ill by any metric, but as a 19 year old kid I took the threat seriously, cut off all contact with my parents, worked in a shipping company in Chicago for one year, then lit out for the territories, Louisiana, worked in the oil fields. Threw away my upper middle class card and joined the working class, a good thing in the long run. School of Hard Knocks was better for me than Academia.
Speaking of ethnicities, U of C was interesting. I met the son of a big Mafia Guy from New Joisy, Drew, the first man I ever saw grabbing his dick in his hand while conversing with me, saw many (mostly black) guys do this later in life. Also met this uber-WASP rich kid from NYC, Andrew, he was somewhat condescending to me as he came from the Elite 1%, not rude about it though, he gave me some sensible tips about not exposing my weaknesses. I appreciated that.
When I was at U of C I had many Jewish friends, they pretty much all assumed I was Jewish due to my appearance and surname, I was agnostic on the issue, maybe so maybe not, what’s the big deal. My mom’s side of the family preferred claiming Jewish heritage to Spanish, as the Spanish were dirty Spics, like the Wops, Italians also despised when my mom’s and grandparents’ generations were coming up between the 1920s and 1950s. Only one Great-Aunt was not self-hating, told me the truth, “We are Mediterranean, not Jewish” when I was 16 and visited 2 of them in NY state. Recently talking to my (white) sister about this, she shared that my Spanish grandma directed smears about the “HItalians” to her!!
Later at the High School I worked at in NorCal, the Jewish staff were extremely cliquish and proud of their superiority. I was still widely assumed to be Jewish by most. In my 2nd job as the Teacher’s Unions Grievance Chair, kind of a jailhouse lawyer pushing back across the entire district against teacher abuse by admin, once I went to a Middle School to start a grievance against a Principal who had abused a member. The Office Manager was a black woman, a toady to the shitty principal who tried to block me from starting the grievance, just serving some papers that were already prepared. She claimed a “crisis” at the school, THERE IS A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ON SITE, WE ARE CALLING 911, A CRISIS!! SO FUCK OFF! I was like, I work at a High School, students are not dangerous or terrorists, I’m staying for my appointment. (I had to close the Library I ran to do this, a hardship for my school.)
So the bitch started saying, “You are very Agresssive!!” “Why are you so aggressive!!?” I knew she thought I was a pushy Jewboy, one of the few times (another was with a Skinhead at a Punk show) that I directly experienced anti-Semitism, so I know it is real, prevalent with probably 20% of the populace in my experience. I stayed until the bitch principal showed up, I gave her the papers, she made a point of wasting my time reading all 3 pp. to further keep me away from my main job. We won the Grievance, she backed down and stopped “discipline” against the woman teacher who’d cried in front of her class the day after she learned her mother had died!!
The black office manager, a tough, nasty person this one incident showed me, “cried” after I left from the “trauma” of my aggressive demeanor, wrote a letter to my Union President about how cruel and pushy and disrespectful to her I was as if she was the victim. My union president disliked me, I was much more popular with members than her, ‘coz with 2 colleagues at my school I always fought hard for members, even those I didn’t like, when you’re working class, the Union is the one agency that gives you strength against constant attacks. She pretended concern, nothing came of it. The Pres. was very bourgeois, she would defend members she personally liked, would let those she didn’t be thrown under the bus, mistrusted by many.
I almost told the Office Manager, “Oh, do you mean to say I’m PUSHY, is this an anti-Semitic thing” but didn’t go there. This is before my 23&Me so I didn’t know, as I said was agnostic. I was a serious Freemason for over 3 decades, the group I belonged to was very Philosemitic, we studied Qaballah very seriously. In fact I can read and write Hebrew, related ONLY to that subject, no interest elsewise. I find it an ugly-sounding language, like Deutsch, which is about 15-20% of my genome, to my eternal shame.

I made the mistake of going to Wikipedia and reading the biographical article on Kristof, which could illustrate the dictionary definition of “hagiography”. A long time ago, I used to read the New York Times regularly and I vaguely remember Kristof’s Opinion columns, part of a carefully selected and arrayed deck of opinion-havers that included the late William Safire and the reliably ridiculous, bad-writer Tom Friedman and Bob Herbert, the closest the New York Times ever deigned to have to a representative voice of the working class / merely middle class.
I digress, of course, but on purpose. I feel queasy about how far respect for a presumed shared sense of moral “right and wrong” has been overused, abused and eroded. It is disorienting for someone like myself nearing the end of life to look back at the shifting guidepoints of political consensus. It is like we cannot even muster a political scandal or moral panic anymore, these levers have been so abused and overused.
Do any of you remember Biden’s Gaza relief pier? That was an absurdly expensive and impractical U.S. Navy effort to create a means of delivering humanitarian supplies to Gaza. The political calculation behind it seemed to be there were Democrats whose concern for starving Palestinians could be assuaged without having to either confront the Israeli authorities or make use of UNRWA. Apparently the political calculation proved wrong: if there were Democrats with humanitarian concerns, they had no political weight. All forgotten now.
I question whether we “know” that any Israeli women were sexually assaulted on Oct 7 by Hamas troops. It was a claim — like beheaded babies — or Iraqi’s disabling hospital incubators in Kuwait or the Hun bayoneting Belgian babies in August 1914 that get made without regard to factual accuracy because they form a foundation for a morally-compelling narrative convenient to some power’s interest.
The thing that’s troubling me is that the morally-compelling narrative seems to have no real utility outside the domain of Hollywood. Kristof above throws out revulsion-to-rape as a moral life preserver after a flood has devastated the institutional landscape of politics. In the kingdom where the liars rule, can justice be anything more than a meaningless slogan?
I know this comment must seem fractured and disorganized. I mean it to be. It is how I feel, worn down by decades of moralistic cynicism dominating politics.

Many need to ponder how the terrorist genocidal state of Israel has been allowed to inflict bestial savagery and sadistic cruelty for so long, particularly targeting children to terrorise parents.

They gave DJT’s 15 points a 10 point response coz he or more likely his people couldn’t digest more than that initially.
The whole reason that Iran is Bibi, Trump’s and the Epstein Classes “Civilization to be Annihilated From History Forever” is that for nearly 5 decades they have been the #1 Defender of Palestinain Lands, People and Culture.

While doing my PT, and on the exercise bike, I explore Youtube Channels. I also found an interesting channel on contemporary China, “Klaise”, run by a young Chinese living in Australia. Among other things, he clarified what the Chinese credit scheme actually is and does, and I think that parts of it are actually awesome (it’s mostly directed at businesses and companies, more so than individuals, and a Chinese company that either fails to deliver to the government or delivers a shoddy product gets told “no more government contracts for you!”). Even the stuff directed at individuals have a point, usually they’re done against people acting like privileged ass***es and the credit score deficit incurred can be erased if you start doing good stuff, like volunteer work and whatnot–all without overloading the court system.
But my reason for bringing up this channel is that he also addresses China’s (and Asia’s as a whole) attitude towards Israel and Gaza. Unlike the West, the news from Gaza isn’t sanitized; and Israeli actions are shown in their full ugliness. Ian, when you say:

It shows Israeli citizens holding a cookout near the Gaza border, deliberately positioned so that the smell of the cooking food will be carried by the wind to people WHO ARE STARVING. An act of deliberate, conscious, cruelty. Not only do they stop trucks bringing food to starving Gazans, they torture them with the smell of cooking food.

Wrong. You’re clearly well-read but not much of a thinker. Any analysis you may engage in is too overwhelmed with emotion and insecurity.
The Iranians know there can be no deal with Trump (they have said as much from the very beginning). They submitted those 10 points under those auspices and yet they omitted any reference to the Palestinian Genocide. Them knowing there could never be a deal makes it even worse because they literally had nothing to lose making it one of the points and posterity to gain, but I guess to hell with posterity, right?
